I fell in love w/ a dress I saw in DB. It was affordable, but still more that I was willing to pay. So I took my search to the Internet.
I ordered the same dress from a dress company in China in the beginning of February. I still haven’t received it. They’ve answered all my emails but I keep getting excuse after excuse (Very LONG story) and now, about 30 emails later) I’m pretty sure it’s NEVER coming 🙁
I tried to file a dispute/claim with PayPal, but since the 45-day time limit has passed, there’s nothing that can be done on their end. I also tried to file a claim through my bank and they have a 60-day time limit. To make matters EVEN worse, I went back to the website this morning to reread their refund policy and IT NO LONGER EXISTS! I just visited the website a few days ago and it was there.
My wedding is in July, so if I do some serious hustling this coming week, I’m confident that I can still purchase a beautiful dress. I had a feeling deep down that a company selling a $1200+ dress for $200+ was probably too good to be true. This is a huge lesson in why it’s important to always trust you gut!! Lesson learned!!

There ARE sites that have good reviews and have consistantly delivered, I was going to order from one site at first but after reading reviews on the bee I’ll probably go with one that a lot of other bees have used. I really really hope you find your dress in time! (Better yet, by some miracle, they send your dress) I know they have standard times for disputes but if something was never delivered there must be some course of action!

Wow I’m sooo sorry 🙁 I hope you find a dress. There has to be some way you can get your money back, you were freakin scammed!

Thanks so much @lionskitty! I’m praying for a miracle as well!
I’ve ordered from another company in China – lightinthebox.com. I ordered a cocktail dress to wear to a wedding last year. I loved it! It came quickly and it was super duper cheap. My godmother also ordered a dress from dressesdesign.com for her 25th Anniversary celebration 2 years ago and it was really beautiful. Very well made. That’s why I figured I’d be ok in purchasing from a similar company.I couldn’t find the dress I wanted at either of those two websites, so that’s why I tried firsteddingdress.com.
I was thinking that I’d be able to fight this is someway, somehow. I’m going to keep researching to see if there’s some other course of action I can take.

@JLovesM – Thank u!! I’m certainly going to keep trying! 😉

@NellyB: I didn’t order my dress from China, but with my job I am frequently ordering parts from China. A route to try is find someone who speaks Chinese and have them argue on your behalf. I find often that these Chinese companies won’t take me seriously because English is my first language. When I get my supervisor on the phone/skype with them, they very quickly change their tune.

The site’s domain looks to be expired, however, I found a cached page through google: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:ola_XBQ04JMJ:www.firstweddingdress.com/legal-information+&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
Problem is that Google didn’t/couldn’t cache their return policy page. If you want to search, go to google, and in the search field, type “cache: (whatever site and page)”. I’d print whatever pages you can find before that goes as well.
I tried to get you their return policy, but like I said, I can’t find it cached there or on waybackmachine.com.
Good luck, I hope they get what’s coming to them!

Check “Church Street Bridal” on facebook and research them here on the bee. It’s a great cause to donate to and they have some fab wedding dresses at very low prices. Some of the dresses are donated from Kleinfelds.

I was at CSB a few weeks ago and they don’t have many Kleinfeld dresses anymore. I was kind of disappointed with the selection. 🙁

Oh, that’s sad to hear. I wonder why? I hope they will still donate to CSB. I saw that CSB website wasn’t up and running, but their FB page is very helpful and I love all of the photo’s. I’m so glad you chimed in, you have the best recommendations for dresses, especially with budget and timing constraints!

You know I love the charity, but the staff almost completely turned over a bit abruptly (hence not much talk about them on here…the person who did all the posting is gone).
They’re still getting Kleinfeld dresses, but there’s also a lot of the more mainstream stuff there. There’s still selling the Pinina Tornai or Monique Lhuillier gowns, but there’s also a lot of stuff from labels that we all have in our hometown bridal shops (Alfred Angelo, Sottero, etc.). It didn’t feel like the “gold mine” it was last year.

I too am having a problem with them. I ordered my dress in Feb. I have kept in touch with them from the get go, and now yesterday their website was gone. i kept trying it and finally got it to work long enough to talk to “Summer”. She told me that their site was being upgraded and told us my dress would be shipping any day now. However, the site hasn’t worked all day.
My wedding is in 5 WEEKS and now I believe my dress is no longer coming. I do not have the money to buy another dress ( I will be filing a claim with Pay pal tonight) nor do I have much time. I am hoping against hoe that for some reason my dress is coming and will get a shipment notice any time now. However, I’m guessing that won’t be happening.
Now, I am getting married soon and am currently Dress-less. Brides beware!!!

@ Nicoso – That is an awesome idea! I have a friend that speaks Chinese and two coworkers from China, so I’ll ask one of them to translate for me. The company actually called my cell three weeks after an email asking a question about customs. I’ll go back into my phone to retrieve the number! Thanks so much! This is exactly why I love this website!

@thejill – Thanks! I appreciate this info so much! I’ll definitely keep trying to get the policy using “cache:”. I never would have known to do that on my own! If I can at least a portion of my money back, I’ll feel a bit better 😉
@mink & RR – I ‘ve actually seen really pretty gowns on Oncewed! I’m checking those other sites out as soon as I log out of here! Thanks a million!
@Ashley25 – I’m sorry ;(…I’m still going to hope for the best for both of us! If I get any helpful info, I’ll definitely pass it along to you! Have you looked into David’s Bridal or the websites @mink & RR posted?

What DB dress are you looking for? One of us might be able to find it on the cheap (or have it!).
