Some of you might find this entertaining but I hope to use my lesson learned for good and hopefully help brides in their dress search.
When I first got engaged I never really gave a thought to my dress. I just knew it was gonna be poofy and white. I’m not really a dress girl to begin with, I wore hand me downs to prom and homecoming dresses came off of online or JCP lol
Examples =Jr and Sr Prom. Blue was new but I just bought it from a bridal/prom shop cuz I liked the color
I had no idea what I wanted or where to even start lol
So in January when I walked into a David’s bridal for the first time, just lemme say, boy was I overwhelmed! So it didn’t help when I got the consultant who hated her job and everything I put on was just great and looked awesome. Beware, when you go to a David’s, trust your own opinion because they will tell you anything for a sale.
I say to her. .no pickups, satin or ruching
This is what she put me first
And somehow I ended up ordering this. It’s pretty don’t get me wrong but not me at all. I ended up selling it on preownedweddingdresses.com many months later
In February I ended with this dress. I loved it, it was amazing and I couldn’t wait to wear it. I found it on preownedweddingdresses.com btw
Then in July I started losing weight like big time so when I put the dress on again for my fitting it literally just sat on me, didn’t hug my curves or even look good on me at all so of course I panicked. But the seamstress says oh just tie the corset strings tighter and I’m like uh no thanks I’m not just tying it tighter…examples lol
See what I mean?
Okay so after that fiasco I took it to another lady who was lazy as lazy gets and told me there was no hope for it and of course i got snotty and said it’s not like wedding dresses are one size fits most, they’re made to altered
As you can see its just not flattering!
Okay I got on the Internet again and I browsed and browsed for dresses until I came across one from Maggie Sottero 2012 line and I’m like who cares if I wear an old dress? And I had looked into it earlier this year but decided not to since I already had a dress. So i checked the measurements and made sure the fabric was right and thought about it for weeks then finally bit the bullet and said you know what I love this dress and i want to be happy on my wedding day.. here it is, I love it and I’m super excited to wear it. I even had a “bridal”moment in it.
So just remember, if you end up with a mean consultant and lose weight, make sure you really love the dress before you buy!
