I got my dress at Weddings 826. They’re a smaller shop which made everything feel more personal and intimate. I loved them. I also tried Diana’s Bridal in Skokie. They had a bigger selection but still not a huge place.

It is in the suburbs, but Simply Luxe in Algonquin is amazing! Their service was awesome! Also, Demetrios in Schaumburg is great. I would try to go to the suburbs just to save on tax alone!

shadrury:  I had a great time at House of Brides. I wouldn’t buy from them based on reviews but the salon it self is very pretty. Lots of Allure and under 2500 for most dresses.

I would also check out Dame Couture and Bella Vie.

Suburbs, but loved Crystal Bride in Geneva when I got my dress in 2013/2014.  Super nice, good selection, pretty well kept place, and they did a great job.

I live in down state Illinois… Alice in Ivory pretty much has every beach dress I can dream of (they sell Anna Campbell dresses). But like I said, I am down south in the cornfields and the thought of driving to Chicago just to try on dresses makes my head want to explode.

Alice in Ivory is amazing! I got my dress there! They also have frequent trunk shows so check out their website. I’ve also heard good things about Sarah Seven.

shadrury:  I’d say the range is around $1500 and up. You’ll have tons of options if your budget is $3,000. I went to one trunk show last year — usually the designer is there with all of their dresses and the perk is that if you purchase a dress during the trunk show you get 10% off. The dresses during the trunk show were all out of my price range but it was really fun. I ended up going back a few months later and found a beautiful sample dress that I took home that day. I would recommend even just emailing them and explaining what you’re looking for and setting up an appointment. Good luck!

shadrury:  I got mine at House of Brides in River North – I had a great experience and it was the only place I shopped.  3 dresses, 45 minutes, and I was done!!!  (Not because they rushed me, that was my choice).

My Alfred Angelo was about $1200 before alterations, and it came in in less than a month with a $100 rush fee (my wedding was only 4 months after I shopped).  Alterations were wonderful, and I even had them put a full lining in the see-through corset top (the alterations lady kept saying “you no want to be sexy bride?” No, no I do not.)

They also gave me a free veil – simple tulle, fingertip length, ribbon edging.  That was awesome, because veils are stupidly expensive.  They also kept my dress there until the day before the wedding which was great because I would have had nowhere to store it.
