I would definitely suggest checking out VOWS in Watertown.  They have designer gowns at discounted prices.

Good luck with the dress search!!

I had a wonderful experience at Bella Sera in Danvers, and at La Reine Bridal in Waltham.  Didn’t love Camilla’s in Arlington.

I live outside the city, so I didn’t check out any of the city salons, but there are tons!  Have fun and good luck 🙂

I bought mine at Priscilla’s….they have really great sales/deals throughout the year- I highly recommend signing up to get their emails.

I had a great experience at Loren’s Bridal in Sturbridge, MA. It’s a small storefront but they have a huge inventory (it doesn’t look like it when you first walk in, but then the ladies just bring out dress after dress after dress). They also purchase the “secret” Maggie Sottero dresses. Each year, Maggie comes out with about 5 dresses and stores can choose to buy them or not, but they don’t see what they look like until they come in and they aren’t commercially advertised. I thought that was pretty cool!

I had a great time at Vows myself! Saturdays are a little crazy as it’s a free-for-all but what I did was look at a few on a Saturday and made an appointment to come back during the week.

YEah, I wasn’t a fan of Camilla’s either.  I agree la Reine and Bella Sera are good!  But I fell in love with Precious Memories, the staff is awesome.  I bought my dress there even though they didn’t have a sample.  To sum up, I was in a similiar price range and here are my recommendations from all the stores I visited.  I also recommend like most people do go during a weekday, even if you don’t take off of work, if you make an appointment on one of their late nights you’re experiences will be a lot better.  If you want to do the weekend, do the 1st appointment of the morning, before it gets too crazy.  Bella Sera is open on Sundays which is rare, and I had a great experience with a 10am Sunday appt.

Must go (Stores I loved):

Precious Memories (Malden)

Vows (Watertown)

Bella Sera (Danvers)

La Reine (Waltham)

Check out (Stores I was indifferent to):

Camilla’s (Arlington)

Manhattan Bridal (Dedham)- I didn’t see a dress over 1200 here

David’s Bridal

AVOID (Stores I HATED):

Bride’s Choice (Waltham)

La Sposa (Newton)

we ended up going with bella sera after visiting la reine and vows….

we liked all three but chose bella sera because we thought they were extremely attentive and customer service oriented.

I bought mine in Newburyport at Pure Bliss.  They were nice and had a great sample sale that I was emailed about via The Knot.  Sure enough, I bought my dress there during a sample sale.  And who doesn’t love a day trip to Newburyport??  Good luck!
