I bought my dress at David’s Bridal for $549 + tax. I’m going to make an appointment next week for alterations, so I can update after that on the cost.

@medbride:  That was about the same budget as me. You should check out Kimberley Wilson Bridal in New Edinburgh – I had a great experience there and EVERY dress they have is under $1000. I would recommend making an appointment since it’s a small place.

Most of the places I looked at had a selection of gowns in all price ranges and well below a $1000.  Some of them were out of town, but they included All That Glitters Bridal (in North Gower) and Sinders in Carleton Place.

Has anyone heard of any places that have dresses under $500? I’m having a very intimate, semi-formal wedding so I would only want a simple sheath dress… it seems silly for me to spend anything more than that.

I agree with Rocketzoly,  Kimberly Wilson Bridal has some great stuff!!

Also, if you’re wiling to go for a road trip to TO, there’s a place called The Bride’s Project that you should read up on and check out.  There was some really nice dresses when I went; I just didn’t find the one for “me” there.

Good luck!

@medbride:  Check out Alliance Bridal in Moose Creek (it’s about a 40 minute drive from Ottawa). They have a very large selection of dresses so I’m sure you’ll be able to find something in your price point. 🙂

I bought my dress at Alliance Bridal. Alliance and Sinders had tons of dresses under $1000.

@liz.tessier:  check out j.crew – they have an online store, or if you ever find yourself in Toronto.  They’re beautiful and very reasonably priced.  Also, With Love in Stittsville has a consignment section worth checking out.  Also, BCBG has pretty dresses and offer select styles in white – check out online or head on down to Rideau/St. Laurent.

I am currently scouring TheOutnet.com, Ssense.com and Net-A-Porter.com (reg. price is $$$ but wait for a sale and you’ll def. find something in the $1000-2K area).

@medbride:  I’m not sure exactly what they would have in stock in the Toronto store, but I just checked the website and there’s a wedding link on the Canadian page (I guess it’s the same as the US page, just switch the shipping country to Canada):  http://www.jcrew.com/wedding.jsp’ defer=’defer  Happy dress shopping!

I had a great experience at White Satin in Nepean. I acutally found my dress there but ended up buying it in my home town when I went looking with my mom.

Alliance Bridal and Sinders are having a sample sale on July 27th at the Chimo Hotel in Ottawa…. lots of dresses that are originally $-$$$ on sale. Example $1700 gown for $750, some dresses are as low as $250, etc. Worth checking out. Lots of great dresses!!!
