I got engaged last week, it wasa pretty stressful and emotional time and I was thinking of a nice way to blow off steam. So I booked an appointment at a local mid range bridal shop. We don’t have wedding date and I have a fair bit of weight I want to lose, but I wanted to get a head start on reseaching what kind of wedding dress I end up with. I’m not known for my feminine style and I have *no clue* about wedding dresses. I figured I’d go, get some ideas and boost my mood.
What do I need to know to help me pick out a dress and how can I make my search easier?

Go to loads of places. Try on many dresses. I originally thought I knew my body shape and thought I would look best in a mermaid. hahahhaha…nope. I look best in an A-Line. Then I thought I wanted all lace, nope, ended up with tulle and lace.
Take pictures, even if they tell you that you can’t sneak them. Do not committ to a dress until you’ve seen the picture of you in it. Your memory of your wedding dress, isn’t going to be what you ‘thought’ the dress looked like, its going to be what the dress ‘photographs’ like. Take that piece of advice from a dress regret ended up with two dresses person.
Be open minded, try on everything even if you think you don’t like it.

My advice is to try on lots of different styles of dresses. I knew from the start that I wanted fit & flare and that’s all I ever tried on. Now I regret not having tried on ballgown. I’m not sure that I would have bought that style, but I wish I could have felt like a princess for a few minutes and had a photo to save
Also – takes lots of photos! When I tried on dresses they all started blending together and looking the same after awhile. Having the photos to look at later was a HUGE help!

I agree with try on things you think you wont like!
