I went to Camilla’s in Arlington and had a great experience there – I would highly recommend it.  Or you can try Vows in Watertown.

Bring a bottle of water and a snack (like a cereeal bar or something). You will need it.

I know that wasn’t exactly what you asked, but somene told me that ,and I was VERY grateful!

On my list are La Reine in Waltham, La Sposa in Newton, and Manhattan Bridal in Dedham.  There’s also David’s Bridal in Dedham and Framingham — I went to the one in Dedham last weekend and had a truly great experience with the nicest consultant.

I had a terrible experience at Camilla’s in Arlington 🙁

But I would highly, highly recommend La Reine in Waltham (where one of my best friends got her dress last summer) and Bella Sera in Danvers (where I ended up buying my dress); they both had good variety and MUCH better customer service.

I got my dress at La Reine Bridal in Waltham. It was the best experience I had out of the 6 salons I went to. I forget the name of my consultant, but everyone working there was REALLY nice. My budget was originally $1500, and I ended up going above that a little bit, but it was a tax free holiday weekend and that’s how we justified it, lol. I think if we had said we were set on sticking to that budget they wouldn’t have showed us anything more expensive, my Mom kept saying “don’t let the budget stop you from pulling something though, we have budge in our budget” lol. They did a great job reading my personality to figure out what I want and I would recommend them to anyone!

@FallBzz: I have heard mostly good things, so maybe it was an off day?  I had made an appointment well in advance (maybe 2 weeks), but they didn’t show up on time–I guess I was the first appointment of the morning at 11am on a Sunday and the woman opening shop didn’t get there until 11:30. So that was annoying.  She didn’t really apologize, either, which would have gone a long way toward assuaging my annoyance.

Then she ignored me–I had to go ask for clamps every time I wanted to see how a dress really looked, and the woman helping “harrumph”ed every time–in favor of walk-in customers browsing the jewelry and reading the paper.  When I asked how much a dress might cost to be altered, the woman told me it was impossible; I was too short for the dress and that was that.  What? I am not tall, but I am also not abnormally petite…

If I hadn’t been there with my mother (who flew in from London for this appointment), I would have left; there would have been no way to get in and out of dresses without her support!

Either I give off a weird “don’t help me; hate me” vibe, or it was a really off day, since I have heard mostly positive reviews of Camilla’s.  I was really disappointed, though.

If you are willing to drive a bit outside of the city, there is a little bridal shop in Sturbridge called “Loren’s Bridal”. Don’t be fooled by the small storefront, they have a monster-size closet (that is actually bigger than the store’s floorspace) with many, many dresses. They have a HUGE selection of Maggie Sotteros too.

Every dress I tried on there, they put on a veil and talked about what accessories would work with it. It was very personal and the ladies are all very nice.

I bought my dress a few weeks ago at Bella Sera bridal in Danvers.  I had a wonderful time and I also suggest bringing water and a little snack!  GOOD LUCK!
