I wore a designer dress in a 10.  It was a sample size.  (6-8 street size)

My gown is a size 6. It is a size smaller than I normally wear. Nothing like setting a goal for yourself, right? Nevermind that I don’t currently fit it- I can zip it, just not breath. It was a sample gown. I have 7 months left before the wedding so it is definitely something that will be able to be achieved.

Wedding dress sizing is about 1 – 2 sizes or more smaller than your largest street size.  Now the lines of the dress matter too, so if you wear a bigger size in the hips a mermaid/trumpet/fit and flare will need to take this into account where a ballgown will not and could go either way with a shift or aline

Your poll data is going to be insignificant, even for informal purposes. David’s Bridal dresses run pretty close to American “street size,” which is already pretty inflated. A lot of high end designers use European sizing. And that says nothing of the way in which a corset will change the size; e.g., Baileyh’s reply before mine. You’d be better off asking for our measurements. You’ve also excluded an option for size 0.

And honestly, just don’t worry about it. The average wedding bee size does not reflect YOU and how good you’ll look in a dress that fits you well, no matter the number attached to it.

I just ordered my dress, it’s a size 4 by Blue for Enzoani. I’m a 34-26-37 so according to Enzoani, that is a size 4 although I’m not sure it rings true for other designers. It’s not a ballgown, its very fitted.

I’m trying to see what the typical bridal size so I don’t set an outragous and unachievable  goal for myself

it doesnt matter what size other brides are – its not as easy as picking a number and saying oh i meet the average no matter what

even siblings who share both parents have different body types so try not to put too much pressure on yourself

I had to order my dress, Mori Lee 2512 (fitted modified trumped) in a size TWELVE because of my booty. πŸ™‚ I’ve never ordered a size that large.

I’m a 34-25-40.5 and 5’9, so they had to go with the largest size. There will be a lot taken in on the top!

Rather than promising myself to lose weight, I just ordered my current size. My dress has a corset back, so if I lose a bit of weight, it’ll still fit… Also, with my height, it takes about 10 lbs to drop a size.

I’m often a 2 in a-line or empire dresses, and a 4-6 in pants, although its hard for me to find things that fit properly due to my little waist and bubble butt.

I’m 33-25-34 and bought a size 8 in bridal, usually a 2-4 street size, lol

Our sizes in the UK are a little different to American ones.  I’m a street size 12 (which I believe is an 8 in the US) and my wedding dress is a 14 which would make it a 10 in the US.

Street size is usually a 0 or a 2, depending on brand.  I measured for my dress in between a 2 and a 4, so they ordered a 4.

why does it matter what dress size you are? as long as you’re comfortable in your body and healthy, that should be good enough.

@kitzy: I think it’s just a discussion to how bridal sizes are so off from your regular clothing size – no matter what your size is. From what I read online it’s because bridal designer still follow the standard military sizing where most clothing manufacturers vanity size. πŸ™‚
