Need some advice as to whether I look better in a strapless wedding dress or a dress with straps/sleeves. I personally really prefer things with straps, sleeves, off the shoulder… anything that has somthing going on in the decolletage area but every attendant I’ve had over 3 seperate appointments puts me in strapless. Had to push to get one with sleeves… It’s not that I think I look terrible in strapless, just better and more myself (read secure) with something going on on top.
The closest I felt to myself and also halfway pretty was in this dress with 3/4 sleeves.
What do you Bees think? Need kind advice….I’d like to have a better idea of what I look good in before going to another store so I can advocate for my taste. Thank you!

Don’t know what you mean by halfway pretty, you look beautiful in both. If you like the sleeves better than go with that. To me, it is more unique and is very pretty. I’m generally not a big fan of strapless either

I felt the same way. Non strapless is tough to find. that said, I think you look amazing in that first dress! Like seriously great! And I’m not fond of that last dress at all. It looks matronly to me. i guess id say don’t be afraid to try strapless, you might like it more than you thought. BUT you also gave to be comfortable… Straps would be ok too!

Thanks for your replies! I didn’t love the sleeves I just felt like a linebacker with huge shoulders in those strapless ones. I always thought I’d end up with a bigger skirt to even if all out but I do like the more trumpet look when I finally saw a dress on my actual body…basically I feel like a kid playing dress up and nothing has even felt close
to being the one. Here is a strapless full skirt…

I like the first dress on you, just the way it is. And your shoulders look slender in it. I also think the back of the 3/4 sleeve dress is lovely. But I wish the front was different – the flowers going up your chest age the dress. I dislike the strapless full skirt on you.

The 3/4 sleve dress looks divine! I also count myself as someone uncomfortable with all the upper body exposure that a strapless dress offers. Love them on other people but just not for me.

I’ve ended up with a strapless dress after all, but it was a long journey to it and I started in the same boat as you (didn’t look bad, I just didn’t feel like myself). There’s lots of pretty sleeves out there, they’re just harder to find than strapless. Try something with cap sleeves maybe, those illusion 3/4 length ones don’t do anything for you. Once you start to narrow down what you like and looks good on you, you’ll stop feeling like you’re playing dress up, promise 🙂

That is exactly
how I feel. It’s not the 3/4. Just the overall feel…not Fabulous enough 😉
Thank you! I really appreciate that. I am so lost! haha…Yeah I don’t love the last dress but during that appt I was grappling w/ the fact that I realized I looked way better in a trumpet than the ball gown (which is what I love looking at on other people)
Thank you for the encouragement!!! I am hoping to get an attendant at my next appt (at a new store) who will just “see” what I need on my body (lol!) but I am
leaning towards getting strapless since I know Fiance loves that look and so far I haven’t found anything else. Just proves I knew nothing going in. I love the ball gown look but as that last picture proves- just not for me 😉
Thank you! I love the ‘body’ but I wasn’t sold on the illusion top. I would rather have that all be lace but all in all I don’t think I want full-on sleeves…Maybe I just need straps..?

I think both dresses look good on you.
i would go to my next appointment with an open mind. Ask the sales lady for some advice too. Ask her what she thinks would look good on your body type.
Good luck finding the one!

I think the strapless looks more slimming on you, at least in these pictures. The 3/4 sleeves are pretty, but I do think they sort of have a widening effect.

You look great in both dresses!! I agree that going to your next appointment with an open mind and asking for advice might help. Also, you may be able to find a strapless dress that you can get straps or sleeves added to.

Could you buy a strapless dress and add a topper or cap sleeves or straps? If you are really uncomfortable then buy a dress with straps. You will have enough stress with wedding planning without worrying about your dress.

You look beautiful I’m both dresses but I personally prefer the strapless dress. It’s very flattering and shows off your gorgeous figure

Sorry, but I love you in that last dress – the strapless big skirted one! But of course if you feel odd in such a dress then it’s not for you . Pity though, you look great in it.
I am tbh, not very keen on either of the first two . They look a bit matronly. The illusion part on the second comes too high maybe ? Not flattering anyway , and I am usually a fan of sleeves or straps, just not that one.

What do lovely ladies think of this full skirt with shoulder ridge straps? I love dancing so I am worried about being able to raise either of my arms in a dress like this where the straps go directly over the tip/bend of my shoulder…. Anyone have experience with this? I wanna be able to groove and move freely! 😉 (This was obviously way too big a size…)
