Yes, too formal - you should buy another dress

No, not too formal - it'll look great

Maybe - Wear the dress for the ceremony, find a shorter dress for the reception

I think you’ll be totally fine in your gorgeous dress! It’s your wedding, you only get to wear this type of dress once and you’re the bride! So no, I do not think it’s too formal at all and you should absolutely wear it 🙂

In the words of my mother – you’re the bride!!  It can’t be too formal.  If you want to look like Princess Di, then go for it.  It’s your day!

in my opinion..what other day do we get to wear something this dreamy again? well..unless you get hitched again it’s only one time! My dress, while it is simple, it is also fancy! and sexy! I figure since i wear scrubs 5 days a week i might as well enjoy my gorgeous dress..so you wear yours too!

I think you should wear the dress. As others have said, it’s your day, you’re the bride, and you should shine. I don’t think any of your guests will think that you are overdressed. Rock the dress!

I think it’ll look fine. I personally wouldn’t want to buy another dress because you only get to wear it once. I think it’ll be perfect for the evening you’ve described.

I think it’s a gorgeous dress and you should definately wear it.

My wedding is also outdoors and fairly casual, and I’m wearing a fancy dress because darn it I want to…

I’ve kind of pulled it all together by encouraging the guests to wear their fancy frocks if they want.

But we’re southern, and there’s always at least one eccentric Blanche Dubois’ type, at our all parties 😉  (and usually it’s Aunt Eula, who gets all tarted up to go to yard sales)

My dress was more casual than our wedding (I felt like) But that didn’t keep me from wearing it cause I loved it. I think you should wear it cause you love it and it is YOUR day not everyone elses.

It would look less formal if you don’t wear high heels, keep your jewlery to a minimum or big and chunky and just a pretty flower or feather fascinator for your hair and that would help keep it more on the casual side.

Just remember that it’s YOUR wedding day that YOU are planning and YOU are the one that will have to look at your pictures 20 years from now 😀

    Happy Planning!!

I think being the bride that you can wear what you want, regardless of how formal your wedding may be.  This is the one day you can pretty much wear what you want so go with it!

wear whatever you feel most beautiful in! It’s your one and only day to be the prettiest princess! No one is going to say hmmm her dress is to elegant/fancy/extravagant etc. However if you feel gorgeous that will show and all anyone will be saying is “my god, she looks stunning!”

I’m also having a casual wedding and was worried my dress would be “too much.” Everyone’s opinion on the subject was “Don’t worry about it … the bride gets to wear whatever she wants!” I say if you feel right in the dress and you can picture yourself in it on your wedding day, you should absolutely go for it!

My dress isn’t a ballgown with pickups, but I do feel that it is on the formal side for my wedding. I had a few second thoughts, and then got over it. You will only be a bride once – go for your fantasy! If you will really feel too over the top at the reception, I think a very chic mini dress would be awesome. There are some really cute ones at Nordstrom!

It’s your wedding, wear what you want.

But since you asked my honest opinion, I think it is too formal, and I would choose something with a shorter train. But it’s not MY wedding, so do what feels good for you!
