We are having a beach wedding and I went to the store with the mindset of trying on beachy dresses with no trains, more flowy, etc. However, I tried this on in the process (told the lady I would try anything) and I fell in love. Semi-casual outdoor beach wedding…so is this too much? I’m going barefoot and not planning on wearing any jewelry other than earrings. Everyone else will be semi-formal, but beachy casual (shorter dresses for the girls, khakis for the guys) Please see 3 images below:

I think formal at the beach is classy 🙂 But that’s just me. I love the elegant style, I think poofy might look out of place at the beach but not something flowy like this.

@prettyasapeso: I think it is formal, but it looks so great in you.. You should wear whatever you like! Is your day! So if you love this dress, wear it! 🙂

It’s your wedding. You can wear whatever you want.

Although that dress looks nice on you, I do think it is very formal and would feel out of place, especially since everyone else will be semi-casual. I think you can find an absolutely gorgeous dress that would be flowy and fit a beach setting. How many dresses have you tried on? You have a great figure, so finding another dress that looks just as fabulous on you shouldn’t be too hard 🙂

Wear whatever makes you happy and feel beautiful! Bottom line.

Pshhh do what you want. No such thing as too formal of a bride.

You are the bride – there is no such as thing as overdressed or too formal! Just pick the dress you love most! 🙂

@prettyasapeso: It is a beautiful dress, you should wear what you love as this is your special day.
I also love the tension you will get in your photographs of a formal dress on a beach location. I have seen photos of this look before when I have searched images. Very dramatic.
May I suggest that you get your bridal party to also upgrade to something more formal especially your SO.

I say wear it because you love it! 🙂

I love the detail work on the dress. I say go with this dress, I’ve been to many casual weddings where the wedding party was still in formal attire but all the guests wore casual. You only get one day that you could ever wear a dress this gorgeous, so go for it!

It’s a beauty and you should wear what you want but wow if it is a hot sunny day on that beach you are going to melt in that dress, it looks seriously heavy

I think it’s just fine. I’m also having a pretty laid back beach wedding and my dress isn’t really the traditional beachy dress either. It’s your big day and you can wear whatever you want!

It’s gorgeous! I think you should wear it!

I think the dress will look so awesomely unique in a beach setting!
If you get super worried about looking over-dressed, my sister-in-law had a black-tie dress code at her beach wedding so everybody was in more formal stuff and it was cool, no body gave it a second thought. Her dress was beachy, but it would have totally worked (maybe even more so) if she had had a more formal dress. So you could always ask people to dress more formally with you! But I don’t even think it’s necessary. It’s still a nice slim a-line, so it’s not super over-the-top formal like a huge ballgown or anything.
