Help! I bought my wedding dress almost a year ago. It was a sample gown and I loved it. Still love it, but tried it on today and it’s not fitting well at all. I’ve been working out and have noticeably lost inches on my top half (stomach, chest, back) my hips have stayed the same. My bootie has gotten a little rounder from weight lifting. My dress is. Ow massive up top so much so my boobs don’t even fill it out or touch the cups. The dress is tight now around my hips. It’s a big mess. Idk what to do. It hasn’t been altered yet, but I don’t know how this could be fixed. My other worry is if my hips get smaller it will fit, but that means I’ll also get smaller up top. What do I do about this? I love this dress. My parents won’t buy a new one and I can’t splurge for a new one with the cost of the wedding. I have 4 mos. what can I do to lost inches on my hips? Can alterations fix the top?

Its really hard to say without pictures, but I would honestly just ask a seamstress at this point!

flymetothealtar : I think you really should take it to a seamstress to have them evaluate it. I’ve heard that dresses can be altered down two sizes, so the top probably wont be a problem. I’m sure they can take the hips out a little to give it a little more room.

I would just take it to the seamstress. They are most likely used to these types of problems, so let them work their magic!

I think a seamstress could easily fix this. Most women are pear shaped, so I’m sure it’s not unusual to need a dress that’s smaller up top and bigger around the hips. I’m built the same way. Slender upper body, chest is only a B cup, but I’ve got some junk in the trunk. When I lose weight, it mostly comes from my upper body. Losing just 10 pounds can make my chest shrink down to an A cup, but my butt never shrinks no matter how much weight I lose. You’d be surprised how common this problem is.

The top should not be a problem at all my dress was 2 sizes two big up top due to my hips. In alterations they fixed it all so u would never know it was so big and it was a full corset top as well.
hips maybe harder depending on the how much material is in the seams but I would get it in ASAP so u know either way. But I would maybe decrease lifting as heavier weights for a week or so as well so u don’t bulk up more muscle.
