Hi Bees!! I am so excited to be writing my first post! I have been using this forum to answer all the questions I have and you have all been so helpful to each other! I am hoping you can help me with my dilemma as well.
I purchased my dress in January from David’s Bridal…it isn’t the fanciest wedding dress, but there is something about it’s simplicity that I love
Here is the back…
I do love my dress, but often experience dress regret when I look at all of my fellow weddingbees’ dress….or dresses in magazines…or dresses in bridal salons…even the ones that pop up as advertisements when I’m browsing the internet. And let’s not get into the dresses on Pinterest!! I’m obsessed…but those dresses are all out of my budget.
So, here’s where I need your help…What accessories can I wear to make this dress really come alive in a modern chic way(if that is even a style)? Necklace, sash belt, earrings, head piece?? I would LOVE for you to post pictures of ideas! My dress comes in on May 8th and I want to bring a few things along with me to try on. Before I close, I must add that pearls are my absolute favorite!

@mrs_sweetteach: You look awesome in that dress! I might have the shoulder straps taken up a little bit so the straps don’t crumple any. Otherwise you have the curves for it!
My first thought is a chunky necklace:
LOVE this one ^
Etsy has TONS of very affordable ones. They have pearl clusters and even colored pearls too.
If you do a chunky necklace than simpler earings are best.
If you love earrings MORE, then I’d skip the necklace and go for statement earrings:
Then I think I would add a bracelet with either option, maybe a bridal cuff or a pearl cuff?
With the fabric you have I think statement jewerly is the best, something bold. I don’t think a belt is too needed as you have all the ruching on the body.

@sienna76: Thanks so much! These are wonderful ideas. I LOVE those statement necklaces!! I will have to check them out! I do like simple earrings so maybe a cluster of pearl studs. …And those straps definitely have to be taken in!! lol xo

@mrs_sweetteach: First off… the dress is beautiful! I don’t think it needs much other than a good steam, honestly. But statement jewelry will up it to the next level.
Second… STOP LOOKING AT OTHER DRESSES! There is ALWAYS going to be something that looks better. Once you’ve made a decision, just stop. That goes for everything- flowers, decor, venues… once you paid stop looking at the other things out there. Are you browsing dating sites, just to see what other men are available? Nope– cause you HAVE ONE YOU LOVE. Treat your wedding the same way. Love it. Cherish it. It’s perfect for you and it’s yours forever.

I would change the belt and get a nice pair of drop or chandelier earrings. OR maybe try it w/o a belt and an amazing statement necklace with a nice pair of studs?

I think this would look modern, very chic, and smashing with a birdcage veil.

Your dress is very chic and elegant, I think a birdcage (and a red lip) would look divine! As for jewellery, I wouldn’t do very much…maybe some vintage-style pearl earrings, but I would keep accessories minimal.

I love that dress on you! It makes your butt look great! I also bought my dress as DB and while waiting for it to come in(even now that I have it at home) I would look at all these posts here on the bee and get awful dress envy thinking “ I should have tried more on, maybe there is something better out there.” But whenever I try it on again that same feeling that I got when I first bought it reminds me that this is MY DRESS, the one for me. Once I started buying little things for my dress and trying them on with my dress I felt a lot better..
I second the idea of a birdcage veil as I think with how simply elegant the dress is it would be a perfect fit, maybe some drop earrings…

I almost got that one! Dont regret the purchase it looks great on you! i do second the chunky necklace and i would go with a modern style birdcage veil then you arent taking away from the awesome neckline (it is what i loved about that one!).

Your body looks amazing with that dress!
I would skip the necklace and do vintage glam with a red lip and birdcage veil as others have said. Then perhaps add a pearl statement necklace for the reception? I would skip the sash, I think it just distracts the clean lines of the dress and your body.

@MexiPino: and @TMB47: Thanks!! You are absolutely right!! I really need to stop looking. I think once I get the accessories and put it all together, I will feel so much better. May 8th can’t come soon enough!
@gelaine22: Thank you for your advice…I will try it without a belt and a statement necklace and with a different belt, perhaps something with pearls or rhinestones
@KCKnd2: and @peonyinparis: I thought a birdcage would give this dress a lot of chic however my FH is saying he doesn’t like them!! A birdcage is exactly what I envisioned until I showed him a picture of one…I’m going to ask him again. I’m thinking that he won’t even notice when I put everything together and I’m walking down the aisle.
An alternative would be a top bun, one that is effortless not perfectly rounded, and a long veil behind it. What do you think?? I’m afraid of red lips !! I’m not sure if I can pull it off with my complexion…I’ll try it though. Thanks ladies
@REchick: Thanks dear! I saw your dress and I went through those same shoulda coulda woulda emotions!!
@FoolsintheRain: Thanks!! I will consider trying it without the sash. The dress has the chiffon sash made into it, I will try tying it to the back to see how it looks
You ladies are wonderful…thanks again!
