@Msmarie31:  I’m even farther than you, but I must confess. I have an appointment to try on wedding dresses this afternoon. Embarassed  I know it’s too early to buy, but I feel like this will help me get an idea of what looks good on me as I continue my online shopping. I will probably buy my dress 1 year to 9 months out.

You’re not too far away from me, maybe we can go dress shopping together. Smile

I haven’t done any dress shopping in the stores but I’ve been looking online.  I’m really a weird with shopping so I already know which dress I will purchase even though I haven’t tried it on yet.  I’ve been researching the dress for a long time.  I’m going with Allure.

@javoho:  I chose my 2nd dress based on the online picture (had dress regret with my first).  I just went off of what styles looked best on me and what I was looking for.  When I decided on my dream dress I went into the shop told them I was ONLY interested in the Maggie Alana dress.  The consultant was like “You don’t want to try on any other dresses?!?!” I said I just wanted to start with that one and we’d go from there.  I tried it on and just knew it was my dream dress, I decided that moment to sell my first dress and never regretted it.

The consultant was shocked when I told her I saw this style online and knew it was my dress.  She said she’s never heard of that happening because most brides who think they like a dress online or in a picture end up not liking it on themselves, or brides swear they don’t like a dress on the hanger but end up loving it on themselves.  Finding your dress online does happen, and Allure has GORGEOUS dresses.

@NurseMandie:

Thanks, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one especially when you’ve done so much research Smile

@Msmarie31:  So how did it go? Which DB did you go to? I went to the one in East Brunswick and had a wonderful experience.

I have my first dress appointment in 3 weeks at Pronovias Flagship NYC. We are planning to get my dress custom made so I am going to go try on dresses with my Mom and MOH(sis) this one time to cry and gush and get treated like a bride. Then probably not again until April…then maybe every other month until September 2013, all the while consulting with the dressmaker/seamstress, then finally deciding on a gown for me.

I love the idea of personal elements that I can incorperate (my mother’s dress). But I do fear that I will want to buy an off the rack dress anyway…

@Sapphire-Dreamer:  I don’t have a picture right now – but I bought the Alma! Simple, elegant, clean lines – totally me. I had heard they were discontinuing the style, so that helped me make the decision a bit. I tried on a Pronovias lace dress as well (not sure which style name) and I actually liked it a lot more than I thought I would.

I JUST got the call that the dress came in early! It took about 5 months!
