Anyone planning a wedding date during their school semester? Just wondering how are you ladies working out the Honeymoon part. I have changed my date a million times, and I want to do it in April but I can’t take off to go anywhere (not that I would really be going far, we are broke).

I’m getting married during the summer semester so i don’t have to worry about the honeymoon. Fiance are doing something kind of simple though, and we’ll have a big honeymoon after I graduate. I also chose May because I didn’t want to get married on Saturday and go back to class on Monday… So summer was the only choice we really had that wasn’t a holiday break…

I had two dates in mind. To have a wedding at the beginning of spring break so I can have a 5 day honeymoon or have it in Jan and have a 10 day honeymoon. I chose Jan even though I really wanted to get marry in March. You can get marry in April and take your honeymoon after your stressful finals!

I’m getting married April 30th and I take grad courses and teach in a university, so I was very worried about how things would work out. I figured that if I let my professors know right from the start of the semester that I will have to take off for my honey moon, they will be okay with it. If you know you’ll be absent you can always do the work in advance. I don’t think you should worry.

I kinda am….
Finals are May 5th-11th. I’m getting married May 14th. Come home from honeymoon May 20th. Start classes again on May 31st. Busy, busy!
We are getting married on the beach. So that Thurs (12th) we are driving down there with all of our family. Getting married that Sat (14th) and then we are driving to the condo we have booked for our honeymoon. We’re staying 6 nights. Coming home late Friday (20th). My Fiance (by then he’ll be my husband!! ekk!) goes back to work Monday (23rd). I’ll be home alone getting all my stuff situated and moved in that week we come back. Then I’ll start my 4th semester of nursing school the next week (31st).
🙂 Hopefully I won’t be going crazy!!

I think we are going to go with the May 18th (friday night) because I want to keep the day really low key and it is right after I finish finals that week. And I have no desire to go to the graduation ceremony so I’m going to get married instead ! LOL..

We’re doing one of the options applestar13 mentioned and getting married the Saturday before spring break so we have a few days for a low key trip semi-local and then time to move into the new place before getting back into the swing of school. The whole wedding Saturday class on Monday would be too much for me, I’m sure I’ll enjoy the bit of a break.

I havce a similar-ish situation. I graduate May 14th, fly to Costa Rica the 17th, get married on the 21st have a four day mini-moon and then head back to NYC to start my bar review class. Then we are doing a TWO WEEK honeymoon in August when we have time to relax and enjoiy it 😀

We’re getting married in the middle of winter break during grad school!

@veganglam: Me too! I will have time to go on a 6 day honeymoon and drive 8 hours back home. FH has enough vacation time so he will be off for about 3 weeks. I will start classes again about a week after we get home.

We are getting hitched in November and my honey works in the school system. We’ll probably do a quick getaway thanksgiving weekend and do a vacay during February break.

@Miss_Pura Vida: I hear you on the post-bar vaca! Looking forward to that as well.

We are getting married in October (I’ll be in my second year of grad school) so I’ll probably take off a couple days (Thursday and Friday) before the wedding and take off the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving break so we have a full 9 days to do whatever we want for a honeymoon. I wish we could just wait until Winter break but I’ll have comps in January. 🙁

@MsRMTiffany: Our initial wedding date was 9/10/11, but then the more we thought about it, my school schedule would be insane with trying to do wedding planning and take a honeymoon. So now we’re having a summer wedding 🙂

We found two weekends in a whole year that would allow for a honeymoon without interfering with my busy last year in undergrad. Even then we get back and I have to jump right into Band Week and classes.
It seems most people I know who do marry during the school year do so right after or before graduation (so most people will still be in town) or at the beginning of Thanksgiving or Spring Break. Two friends who are teachers locally are getting married this upcoming weekend so that they can have a week off as they have finals right before Christmas and so can’t get married then or in June.
