I’m sorry, but the only one I even remotely like is the 4th pic down.  The other pics are just too much for my taste.  I do think that the way makeup looks on you is dependent on your skin tone and eye shape.  My sister is in love with all things makeup and has a natural cat eye so her eye makeup is always banging.  She loves to experiment with colors and is good at it, but when she tries on me, I hate it…my eye shape is totally different from hers.  These are looks that I’m going for (haven’t had a trial yet, though):

ETA:  Do you have a pic of what your friend did on your makeup?  What kind of look are you going for?  I feel you on all this makeup stuff…I only do minimal eye makeup and regular makeup for basic coverage.  :-p

My husband hates dramatic eye make-up. He, too, says it looks like I got punched in the face. So, I didn’t do it for the wedding and I think it worked out just fine. I don’t really understand the big push for dark eye makeup on your wedding day, anyway.

^ No dramatic eye makeup there

@brandybelle:  Hmm, maybe your friend went a little heavy on the overall lid color?  Maybe a lighter shade will do the trick.

I do like all the pics you posted in general, though.

@brandybelle:  Aw, I don’t see where he thought you were punched in the face!  To me, it actually looks like your friend didn’t put in enough of the purple (but that could be the lighting).

@brandybelle:  Thanks! I just used nude tones, a brown eyeliner and black mascara. Easy, peezey.

@brandybelle:  I like nude colors in general (because they’re easier for me to put on, lol).  I don’t think there’s anything with going the nude route for the wedding, but I’ve heard that some makeup makes you look washed out in the photos (I haven’t researched this yet though).    I would say if you go nude, use a good liner and mascara to make your eyes pop!  🙂

I’d avoid anything with clean, distinct lines. A shadowed, blended look will be much more flattering and won’t make you look like a 17 year old going out to party.

I must be blind because I don’t think it looks like you have any make up on. I LOVE dramatic eye make up so I’m a little biased. If you like it, I say go for it! I love your first and second pic of eye make up examples.

@brandybelle:  Maybe the Smog color looked a little dark, you could try the Sidecar or Toasted colors, they’re a little more pink/nude and would be really pretty with the Sin shade.  Also you could maybe highlight your brown bone a little bit and blend the shadow more over your eyelid, not so distinct in the crease, it might lighten up the look if that’s what bothered your fiance.
