DH and I went to one, where we found our cake vendor. Her cakes were gorgeous and very well priced. I didn’t find attending the fair fun though, except for the fact that at some booths we got to sample cake. We already had most of our vendors at that point. I say why not go and attend – get some ideas, quotes, etc. You may find things within your budget!

I went to a couple and had a lot of fun. Got some cool ideas and enjoyed fantasizing about possibilities. It was also really cool to see the number of wedding businesses that are women owned. I also loved trying samples of things and got some cool photo booth sample pictures.

All of that said- we didn’t hire anyone we met at the fairs we attended. Any people we didn’t already have in mind for a wedding we found via word of mouth or personal recommendation.

i really liked one that I went to, they gave free champagne and lots of catering and cake companies gave free food samples 🙂 plus there were heaps of discounts offered. I got some great inspiration on table decorations and sent heaps of pics to my florist. I also took my Maid/Matron of Honor and it was a nice bonding day out.

I found them to be super overwhelming, and didn’t pick any vendors based on a wedding fair.  If you go, make sure you set up a spam email account ahead of time, because you will be BLASTED by vendors there.

it was kinda fun.  got to try a lot of samples.  i didn’t know it was going to be my venue, but when i called to meet with them later and said i saw them at the bridal expo, they threw in an extra hour at no charge.

We always thought they were fun! We found a couple of our vendors there (including photographer and DJ) and won some raffle prizes including free uplighting through our DJ! Plus… free samples of food and cake. I liked that you could basically interview a bunch of vendors at once and compare. Maybe it wouldn’t have been as helpful if we already had most of the vendors, but it still would have been fun! We may have even gone to one after we got married and pretended like we were engaged…

I went to one to get vendor information. I plan to go to another one in the same area as my venue to see what vendors are there.

I went for the free food and booze. Got tons of cupcakes and cake pops, some little nail polishes, mini bottles of champagne. The fair itself was pretty terrible. Lots of mediocre vendors trying aggressively marketing at us. But I had nothing better to do that afternoon and got lots of free treats.

Geekchick42 :  We went to a few. They were fun, and there was free champagne!

We found our entertainment at one. TOTALLY worth it. They were worth every penny (even though it was pricey).

It wasn’t worth it for us. Many of our vendors choose not to go to events like that simply because they don’t need to. Most of them are constantly booked. I love free cake, but it wasn’t worth it to go and be hounded by vendors.

They are overwhelming but they often have a lot of draws so you might win something! If not, I would just go and concentrate on the vendors who offer some things that you’re still looking into just so you can ask a couple of questions, pick up a brochure without having to meet them.

Geekchick42 :  I’ve been to 3 wedding fairs over the course of my engagement.  I found them to be fun, Fiance not so much lol. It really depends, if your looking for a certain vendor sometimes they have day of sales but be weary of these, and if you go get a wedding specific email and be prepared to get spammed.

I absolutely loved going to the wedding expo that I went to.  We found our DJ there, but more than that, we went to get an idea of what things realistically cost, so that we could more accurately budget. Yes, things are overpriced, but that is just the way the wedding industry is.  I do agree with PP though, that there isn’t much for the guys.

I went! Went once with my Maid/Matron of Honor and then back the next day with my Fiance because I wanted him to meet / see a few vendors. We ended up finding our photographer there – super beautiful work. From what I remember, most of the vendors were in a range. Some definitely less expensive, and others more.

It’s fun to go, if only for all of the cake samples lol
