I’ve been a guest at a wedding where the couple did this. I loved it! I think it’s a fantastic idea.

That’s an awesome idea! Be prepared for resistance though, haha. I know that sounds crazy, but some people (usually family) feel like the NEED to buy you something. It’s weird.

We are doing donations as favors. I have thrown every wedding favor out that I have ever gotten (unless it’s edible).

Did not do any favors, I found that to be a tedious and meaningless gesture considering that I had been to so many weddings and the favors either ended up in the trash or being forgotten at the reception anyway…I figured after treating our guests, and there weren’t very man of them, to a crab leg dinner and open bar, we really had met our obligation as far as generous hosting went.

The charitable donation thing, just doesn’t do it for me either, let people pick their causes, don’t do it in their names, it seems presumptuous somehow.

I love this idea. Our favor for our wedding was a mini bottle of wine. We enjoyed them when the reception was over :o)

Go for it. As a guest, I’d rather know money went to something charitable than have to pretend to be excited about some random monogrammed thing I feel like I have to take. :p

@Lepidoptera:  They printed out something stating that a donation to such-and-such charity had been made in our name and had it sitting at every place setting.

@Lepidoptera:  If it means something to you, rock it girl!  I just feel you don’t HAVE to do anything additional on top of hosting a lovely party to your guests!  The favor thing is something I just never understood…at all
