Personally, I prefer edible favors at weddings. For mine, I sprinkled dove chocolates (the wrapper colors matched my wedding colors) on all the tables. I don’t think any were left behind.

My friend did peach rings in little boxes and those were good too and also matched since one of her colors was coral.

Photobooths are fun for a younger crowd but I don’t really see the older set going for it so much.

@Jenny_Loo_Davis:  I think any kind of gesture is appreciated by guests. I even went to a wedding who had a sign up at the reception that basically said in lieu of favors, a financial gift was made toward a local breast cancer nonprofit in the name of the weddings guests. The amount wasn’t specified. The bride and groom both had breast cancer survivors in their immediate family (also mentioned on the sign) so it was a nice gesture. No one minded.

In My Humble Opinion, it was much nicer to see that than to get a cookie, or a jar of bubbles or something I wouldn’t really use.

@Jenny_Loo_Davis:  this is what I did for our guests. I hand rolled all of the cones, put a pretty embellishment on and a card thanking them for sharing our day with us. Then for about $40.00 I added the fresh flowers which were in a small water tube.

@Jenny_Loo_Davis:  I think the Photobooth is a great idea!! We are doing one as well. In lieu of favors we making generous donations to 2 different charities. One to help with the typhoon relief in the Philippines (my fiance is from there) and one to the animal rescue where we got both of our dogs.  We are putting small cards on the table telling our guests why we are donating to each so they can see how we relate to the charities.

I love the photo idea. I went to a wedding where they had a picture booth with props and they took two picutres of us the photography people that were helping at the both kept one and were putting it in a scrapbook for the couple and they gave us one to keep for ourselves. I’m sure that would be fun to see all the people that came to the wedding.

We are doing homemade chocolate chip cookies – we’ll use little bags and either stamp them our print labels and put those on. We’ll tie them with bakers twine that will match our “Field Guide” programs and attach a tag that could be used as a bookmark. I don’t want to send people away with a tchocke they will just toss later . . . or gather dust! Besides, Fiance brought me a batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies (and red pens for grading) on our first date πŸ™‚

@Britt214:  This is really cool! Can I ask how you did it? Did you have a popcorn maker at the wedding, or was it pre-popped?

@jaykwellan:  There are several different stores in Houston that offer gourmet popcorn.  We went in and picked our flavors (there are about 50) and picked it up on the day before the wedding.  Then right when the reception started, our wedding planner put out the popcorn into the containers.  It was super fresh and delicious!  There was just a tiny bit leftover and even after we got back from our honeymoon (over a week later) it was still yummy!  I liked going to that store because there were so many types.  Sweet types, savory, normal popcorn.  I liked having a mix so that everyone could pick and chose and find a type they liked πŸ™‚
