Charitable donation instead!
Charitable donation instead!
I was going to do the donation thing too, but then someone told me I was being rude by giving money to people I don’t know instead of spending it on my guests (haven’t I spent enough??) and that my guests would be offended…siiiiiigh.
So I ordered a bunch of dark purple organza favour bags off of ebay, and I’m going to fill the with silver candy balls or silver wrapped hershey kisses. We might donate anyway, and just not say anything *grumble*
I made small jars of jam (one per couple/family) for our guests to take home. It took about 5 afternoons to make them, but was tons of fun and I’m really excited about it.
Originally I didnt want favors, usually I think they’re lame… And I wanted to do a donation instead.
BUT then my dad suggested these:
They’re little onyx tea light holders.
And they’re each under $5 bucks bc the part of Mexico where they are made has a TON of marble. My dad ships products from that region so shipping will be free too!
Love the idea of favors/decor!
I make my own soap so I made several batches of castile soap and am going to wrap those up nice with a personalized label for our guests. I have lavender/jasmine, jasmine and cedarwood, clove and cedarwood, and unscented. I’ll share a picture when I get them all finished and wrapped up!
We are doing donations to Kiva.org. We have a travel theme so guests get to pick on postcards which country the their donation would be going to. Some people hate donation favors, I love em and It’s my wedding. I would be perfectly ok getting other favors but they aren’t necessary.
Props to the other donation favor brides.
@romanticbride42: we actually have two favors. for the placecards, we are putting them in a a silver double heart holder which can be used to hold a picture also. The main favor is coffee mugs that i designed. They have a double heart on them that reads All You Need Is Love
@romanticbride42: Fiance is Italian, and we wanted something to tie into that. We ended up doing little bottles of Pallini Limoncello, which will have a gift tag tied to the neck with lace ribbon. There will be one at every place setting. And, to connect it to the wedding, our Signature Cocktail will be Limoncello-based.
All told, the cost was around $2.25 each!
We are not doing favors per-se… We are having a photobooth which will print a strip of 4 photos for them, one copy for us and one copy for the guest. At the bottom of the picture strip it will say “Sarah & Michael’s Wedding, October 19, 2013”. To me, that is enough of a momento, but at the same time it’s not really a waste of money if they’re left on the table. They can take unlimited amounts of pictures, so I figure if they’re going in there and taking pics, then its worth it and they’ll most likely take them home. So that is our “favor”.
We’re giving small homemade pies from a local well known pie stand 🙂
We’re giving DIY drink coasters.. I got 101 free photo prints from shutterfly and bought the rest..and then I’m getting ceramic tiles at Home depot for like 11 cents each. Super cheap and usable. I’m thinking about wrapping a ribbon around them and setting them at each chair.
We’re doing mini bottles of champagne.
Our photobooth photo strip has our wedding logo and date. Two identical strips print out; One photo strip goes in our guest album/scrapbook and other photo strip gets placed in a frame for them to take home.
We’re doing sodas with personalized labels from a local brewery that SO loves. They use wWisconsin honey to sweeten their sodas as well as many other Wisconsin products. They’re delicious and caffeine free.
