- Wedding: October 2009
Quick background, I am an Australian marrying an American and a long way from home. I will be having a wedding and reception that is basically 60 or so Americans that make up my FH family and friends, with just my mother and I making up the brides side from Australia.
I was thinking of doing up little gift bags to be waiting at each place setting when the guests arrive. It would basically be a little sample of little treats from home (well things that I consider treats) from home. A little packet of vegimite (with instructions on how to eat it), a caramello koala, a violet crumble and maybe some minties.
I would like to include a note in with the favour saying something along the lines of "A gift from the bride & groom to give you a small taste of the brides birthplace."
I would love to know if this sounds like as good an idea in real life as it does in my head?
Also I would love some help in the wording of the note so that everything is clearly explained. I love my new soon to be family, and they love me and have been very kind and welcoming. They however are not as well travelled as my FH and sometimes if I do things they consider too Australian they just lookat me blankly until FH explains. I never would have thought that I would need a translator when speaking English in the USA but it seems sometimes I do .
Any help/ideas much appreciated.
