@subola:  It really depends on your area. I’ve seen bee’s on here that say they generally give 100-150 per person so for a couple double that in a card as a check. But in my area, I think that would be considered VERY generous. Some area’s pretty much only give money at a wedding and some it would be more acceptable to bring a gift. Since you aren’t that close, I wouldn’t go over the top and if you don’t go, sending something would be nice, but it doesn’t have to be what you would have if you went IMO

I don’t know your area, although I’m guessing upstate NY would be similar to here. But my minimum for people I’m not close to is $100 per person attending. Of course if you’re not comfortable with that, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with giving less, that’s just what I do pErsonally. You could always go onto the registry and maybe pick out something around the $200 mark and wait for it to go on sale?

It depends where you are in life (salary wise) and how close you are to the couple.  I’d do between $50.00-$100.00.  I’ve done more but that was for brothers/cousins weddings not some random I haven’t spoken to in 4 years.

For a friend we aren’t super close with, Fiance & I spend $100 per person usually (a gift of $200 total).  Sometimes cash/check, sometimes a gift off of their registry.  We usually give the same amount if we can’t go.
