My best friend’s wedding is coming soon (Nov), they don’t have a gift registry and I don’t think they will make one but I want to start planning just in case. Since they are already living together they already have a lot of the obvious basic things I see on “wedding gift ideas” lists, and I’m completely lost on what to get them!
They recently purchased a home a few weeks ago, and I don’t see that they need anything besides remodeling and some decoration or big furniture pieces. I don’t want to simply get them a gift card to home depot although I think it’s very useful since they plan to remodel the bathroom, I just don’t think gift cards are appropriate for people you’re close to.
They are a “busy couple” type, both working full time and possibly struggle with house chores and cooking type of stuff because of the amount of hours they work & all the time taken from house projects. First thing that came to mind was a crock pot, but they already have that :\ and with that almost everything else such as quesadilla maker, rice cooker, microwave, new refrigerator, knife set, etc. They had a storage unit where they acumulated stuff over time before moving in, is why they’re not the typical new homeowners that are easy to shop for because they don’t have much yet lol.
So any ideas on something nice? or gadgets/things that can make busy people’s lives easier? What would YOU like to receive if you were in the same situation? I’m thinking of either one item, or a bag/basket full of smaller items. Our maximum budget would be $300 for something nice, but anything under that will do.

What about something like a really nice picture frame that she could put a wedding picture into (I’m thinking $50-100) and then a gift card to Home Depot/Lowe’s towards the bathroom remodel? That would combine something personal with something they could really use rather than spending $300 on an item they might not get as much out of.

One thing many people don’t buy themselves, that everyone should have in their home, is a fire extinguisher. You could even get them a small one for the kitchen and a larger one they could keep elsewhere.

I would have been thrilled with a Home Depot gc when we bought our house. Maybe it’s impersonal, but it’s practical. Maybe half gift card, half nice gift?

Honestly if I was the receiver and had just bought a new house that needed renovations I would be very happy with a gift card from Home Depot.
If you want to make it more personal, write a personal note in the card, so that they know you were really thinking about them, and not just buying a random gift card. Or get something small to go with it, a picture frame or something like PP said.

If your friends don’t have much time to prep meals, maybe a subscription to a weekly meal service? Don’t know what area you’re in but try checking around local markets/restaurants that may have pre-made meals that are just pick up, heat in oven, and eat.

Reading this my first thought would be a temporary subscription to Blue Apron or one of those sites. I’m sure a yummy dinner together woild be appreciated

If you know for sure they are renovating the bathroom I’d do something cute + the home depot card. A few ideas:
A basket full of new towels, candles, guest soaps, etc.
A bucket full of paint brushes, a roller, a paint tray, a roll of painter’s tape.
If it’s a full bath maybe a set of apothecary jars filled with nice bath salts and soaps.
Otherwise you could focus on the “not much time” thing and put together stuff to make using that crock pot easier. A crock pot for two cookbook, maybe some of those cooking sauce packets that you just dump in with the meat (I’ve had a few and they were all good), plus a bottle of wine and if you still have money in the budget add in a gift certificate to a restraurant that delivers in their area.

Gift card for a housekeeping service? Or a couples massage or other experience they can use after the wedding and moving into their new house?

A good set of knives, Global are the best and retail for around that. I always planned to get some but they were too expensive to justify but absolutely stoked to get it as a wedding present.

We bought a house last year and it’s in dire need of a makeover I’m praying people give cash or gift cards lol. I’m registering at target for kcups, cleaning supplies, fan, steam mop, and ya lol that’s the only things we could need. I really wanna register at home Depot for floor tile lol.

Really love the idea of combining the HD gift card with a little something more personal!! I like the idea of a nice large picture frame, but woman already purchased a lot of collage picture frames and paintings so their walls are already full haha.

Great idea, I did not think of that before. I guess I assumed it’s something all houses already have lol

Great ideas! Schwan’s came to mind, they deliver groceries and meals to comes. I don’t think they have gift cards though, but maybe I can just order some things and have them shipped to their home & let them know in a card/note.
