I have started to get gifts off of my registry in the mail. Problem? It’s still 4 months until my wedding!
What’s the protocol? I’m almost afraid to open them – is it bad luck? But then, I feel bad not acknowledging that I recieved it in the mail, and I have no idea who it is from.
Should I open the gifts immediately or can I wait until the wedding, or at least the shower?
Should I sent thank you cards now or wait?

We opened ours right away and sent the thank yous right away. I think it is better that way because people know that you have received it. If you feel it is bad luck to use it before the wedding, just keep everything in the box until after the wedding. Some people do that because if something were to happen, you are required to return the gifts.

Definitely open them and send a thank-you note! We are not using any gifts we receive before the wedding, but etiquette dictates that you send a thank-you note before the wedding for any shower gifts and wedding gifts received before the wedding.

Open and thank. It will actually make sending your thank you cards post-wedding much easier, and it’s just polite. 🙂 Otherwise people will start to wonder if you received their gifts!
