Before planning my own wedding I never truly appreciated the amount of time, effort and money that goes into the event. I have always gifted what I perceived to be a respectable amount given my personal finances, though now given my experience I will definitely more generous.
I’m interested to know, have other Bees changed their gifting as a result of planning their own wedding?

Nope. I’ve always gifted based on how close I am to the couple and what my personal finances are like.

@MrsDinosaur: I always gave more than enough. But it depends on how close I am with the couple.

I think it has…but we haven’t been to another wedding since ours. But it has changed our thinking about gift giving in general especially for our young adult relatives…ones in their own apts and in college etc. I think we remembered how hard it is to live on a vey very tight budget and every dollar really does open up possibilities…new scarf is nice for a christmas present…but this year DH’s sister in college is getting cash 🙂

Just in general. Appreciate the wholor process a lot more. I know I’ll be quicker to send in RSVPs, buy bigger gifts actually off their registry, and give more money.
