Well…so I haven’t yet bought my gown, but I’m thinking about what it’ll be like when I have to go to the bathroom! I have to say I love the full skirted ones. Ummm, so those of you who have used the toilet in your wedding dress, any tips? I can’t believe I’m actually thinking of this when looking for a dress lol

You should be ok. Have your bridesmaids help you hold your dress. That’s what I did.

Easy peasy! You sit frontwards.. It sounds ridiculous (and complicated) but, I read it in a wedding magazine while I was planning and it actually works.
My dress was a ballgown that I removed a number of layers from so, it was poofy but not overly so.

The best trick I learned was to walk forward onto the toilet instead of turning around to sit like you usually would. Then bridesmaids can just hold your train and stuff behind you.

- Wedding: April 2016 - Athol Hall, Mosman
I might have to have my mom, Mother-In-Law, or bridesmaids help me. If not, I may be able to manage it on my own by facing the toilet (sounds weird, but other brides have seem to have some success using that method, lol).

I just hiked everything up and threw whatever i could over my shoulder. was easy.

Great tip about facing the toilet! I definitely don’t plan to drink much that afternoon, though.

I took my sister in the bathroom with me and had her hold it up! 🙂

Another vote for bring a buddy! My Maid/Matron of Honor and/or my mom helped me hold up the dress.

I vote for lift up and walk into the toilet forward. That being said, I am someone who has a tiny bladder and has to pee a bunch and I only went to the bathroom once after I got into my dress. I think I just kind of didn’t think of it with the excitement of the day. So don’t let the bathroom situation weigh too heavily when you are choosing your dress!

I just took mine off. But I had a fairly simple sheath dress and the wedding was at home so I could just get naked in our bedroom and then pee.

yes to facing forward.
I was so dehydrated from being overwhelmed I only had to pee once.

lol, i’m so glad to know i’m not the only one who has spent more than a few brief moments thinking about this 🙂

I am very, very private when it comes to the bathroom, and it is definitely something I worry about! I have an A-line gown with several layers underneath, and a small train. I am hoping the walking up to the toilet plan, with me just hiking everything up, will work!
