I use to go to the school all the time to get my hair colored/cut/undo’s and sometimes makeup for events when I was tight on cash. I can say that I have honestly had some of the best pro color by a student. No idea what type of school you are looking at going to but it’s a PM or an Aveda school (if they still do it this way) they have different levels and the instructors are nearby and check the work once its done. My advice would be go for a trial, if you like it set your appointment for the big day and request that person.

I think it’s a great idea!  They may not have much experience but they obviously have professional training!

I’ve had my hair done by Vidal Sassoon school students and it’s a mixed bag. If you get ones that are almost ready to graduated, then it’s usually okay. However, what I’ve found is that they tend to take a really long time for whatever reason. When I would get a cut and color, I would be there for about 6-7 hours whereas my current stylist can get it in 2 or less. Just something to consider.

@missjuli:  depends, here it can be hit or miss, yes they are supervised and ysthe instructor can correct it if it’s messed up, BUT do you have time for that on your wedding day?  just something to think about 🙂
