I’m currently in the early stages of the wedding planning process. I am a bride on a budget and would like to know if it’s worth hiring a MUA and hairstylist for the big day.
From your experiences, how long did your professional hair and makeup last? I plan on getting married at the City Clerks Office in the morning and having the reception in the evening.

had my hair done about 6 hours before he ceremony and it help up all evening. About 12 hours total. Had makeup done about 1.5 hours before the ceremony and it even lasted into the next day haha (I admit that I didn’t take my makeup off that evening, I was exhausted and just passed out)

My hair and makeup pretty much lasted all day.
From 8am-3am when I took out all the hairpins and washed my face. The only thing I had to reapply was my lipstick, which was once during the reception.

If you get airbrush makeup done, it should last all day. You might even have to scrub extra hard to remove it. As for hair, it depends on the style you’re considering and your hair type. Stick straight hair may not hold loose curl all day.

My make up lasted the entire day. My hair, not so much. I had my hair down to the side in curls. Since we had a beach wedding in FL, there was a lot if humidity. I think I lasted about 2 hours into the reception then the curls dropped and could not keep the pins in my hair. Since most of the pictures were done already, it did not matter to me as much.

This is what I was worried about. My wedding will be in August and my hair doesn’t hold a curl very well. I’m also planning on having my hair half up. This will be something I’ll have to raise with my hairstylist.

My HMUA was trying to push for an updo but I wanted a more “romantic” look to go with a beach wedding and mermaid dress. Do I regret having my hair down? Not at all. But I would recommend speaking with your HMUA to see what she/he says and then make a decision based on that.

My hair was done around 4 pm and lasted until I took it down after getting home after midnight – wedding was held on a yacht in June, so it was humid and windy, but my hair held. Makeup was done right before hair, and I was still getting eye makeup off two days later!

Mine was on from 2pm to midnight. The makeup lasted great, I only reapplied lipstick. My hair came out just slightly but was still fine.
