We had an outdoor ceremony at a local park. It was very short, we didn’t do a unity candle or anything else like that. I hired a guitar player to play acoustic while I walked down the aisle.

For the reception, we did a buffet taco bar. It was a hit!

@MangoLover4Life:  No. I don’t think anyone really expected us to doing something traditional. We both have tattoos and aren’t really the traditional type. His family is very catholic so I’m sure they wish we would have had a church wedding but we chose not to. We are christian and instead of offending some and not others, we chose to do the park so there wasn’t a problem. We also entered our reception to Kickstart My Heart by Motley Crue which was pretty wild. So much fun though!

@MangoLover4Life:  I want to say that for half of the day it was $45, which was 8am-2pm or 2pm-10pm and the full day was $90. We did the full day because our reception was at 3 and we needed time to set up the chairs.

@MangoLover4Life:  Nope. I don’t think you need permits for a wedding. Only for big events like concerts or shows.

I’m getting married in my aunt’s backyard.  We are having a short ceremony, my big sister is marrying us, then immediately starting the ‘reception’  My whole thing when planning was that I did not want it to be a wedding reception but a party.  We’re having a BBQ dinner, open seating, dinner will be self serve and have a two hour window for people to eat when they want.  We will also have lawn games and dancing.  No first dance, no cake cutting, no bouquet toss, we aren’t doing anything ‘traditional’ for the reception part of the wedding.  FH and I are both very shy and don’t want the attention on us all night (as much as we can get away from it!)

Good luck with your planning!

@MangoLover4Life:  Park Rental was $90. Chairs were $200, I think. Offiant was $100. Guitar player was $100.

Reception (hotel) was $3200 for food, room, dance floor, set-up and tear-down. $500 for DJ.

We had an open bar that ended up being something like 8000 but my husband’s father paid for that.

And then of course there were the decorations, dress, rings, and tux.

We will have about 65 guests, and our total will be somewhere around $5500.  We went the DIY route for quite a bit too πŸ™‚
