My heart is set on an outdoor ceremony. i now live in new jersey but i am from nyc. I have researched The Picnic house in Park Slope. I am beginning to feel that if I have my ceremony and reception there I will spend WAY more money there than at a normal banquet house that already has wedding packages.. Does anyone know if I would end up spending more money at the picnic house with getting a caterer, doing the decor on my own, needing a coordinator for the actual set-up and clean-up, drinks, etc? Or should I just opt out for a banquet hall that will automatically charge $120 and up for their wedding packages???

I have a similar situation with another venue. When you have your wedding in a blank canvas it normally costs more than if you did it at a wedding venue. Essentially you have to bring in everything on your own. The advantages are that it can truly turn out to be your vision, you don’t have time and date restrictions, and you get to eat what you want instead of the standard wedding food. Seeing that you have time I would get quotes for various caterers on costs to see if it’s affordable. My fiancé is a foody so we ended up spending more on food than anticipated, we also decided on making the caterer our one stop shop for rentals and DOC…looking back I should have went with another DOC as it would have been cheaper but other than that I have no regrets thus far.
By The Way the cost difference is contingent on the caterer you decide…I could have spent less in that area but with my fiancé wanting 5 stars level food the price went up

@gescot1: Thank you, I started to look for a banquet facility that can do it all, one stop shop
