(Sorry for the long post!) Well my Fiance and I have decided to turn our family vacation this coming labor day weekend into a little destination wedding with our family and a few close friends (about 60 people in total). My problem now (other than planning a destination wedding an about 100 days!) is where to have it. We wanted something low key and inexpensive but all of the venues that I’ve found so far are out of my budget.
I was looking to rent a house for the weekend so I could have the ceremony outside (maybe even the reception as well instead of going to a restaurant) and house about 14 people.
And I found the most beautiful house. Cheap to rent at $675/night, large lot with plenty of room for a party outside, and only a $1K site rental fee. It’s perfect. Everything I could have dreamed of.
The catch? It’s in the north shore.
Since we are paying for lodging for about 47 people, using our timeshare allowed us to get rooms for 33 of them with no additional out of pocket expense to us. But our timeshare is in South Lake Tahoe.
And most of our guests will already be driving about 8 hours from southern California. I don’t want to tack on another hour drive to get to a house in the north shore. Plus there is the added hassle of driving for an hour to see our friends and family.
But all of the house on nice size lots that I’ve found for rent are on the north shore.
Does anyone have any ideas for SLT houses that allow weddings? All I’ve found are mansions with $5K site rental fees that don’t even include lodging for the weekend. I was hoping to not spend more than $4K for the site fee AND lodging for 3-4 days.
Thank you for any help! I’m at my wit’s end.
