Oh my God–my jaw hit the floor at the ‘she told me how to stand so I wouldnt look pregnant’ part. Wow. Just…wow. I would have stepped down at that point. She is clearly living in a fantasy world right now. And the whole making you get extensions thing? Yeah, um, no. When did bridesmaids stop being friends whom the bride wants to witness her union and start becoming Barbie-girl props for photos?

First–congrats on your baby and the best of wishes for a healthy birth! 🙂 Second–run, bro!!!!

@MeeShell:  I don’t understand brides that think of their bridal party as props.  I asked my two best friends to be a part of mine because I couldn’t imagine getting married without them their and whatever situations they find themselves in on August 30, 2014 is how they will be at the wedding.  I agree with a PP who said that any hairdresser who can’t style shorter hair shouldn’t be doing hair.  There is no need to get hair extensions or pose a certain way.  You should have a talk with her before the wedding and smooth things over.  Good luck and have fun at the wedding.

tell her she’s crazy, i’d want my friends to tell me that if i was ever acting like a bridezilla.  That’s what real friends are for!

@MeeShell:  You have definitely earned the right to step down as a bridesmaid.  Her OCD comment really made my eyes roll.  If I were in your position, I’d explain that this is a strain on you financially and physically/emotionally, and you’d feel much better attending as a guest.

Her behavior sounds intolerable 🙁

@MeeShell:  I understand how you feel, and I’d struggle with the guilt as well. That being said, if her mom is still trying to modify the dress, then you’d be ‘saving her the work’ in the first place. There’s nothing wrong with an uneven bridal party, so she shouldn’t need to fill the gap.

@MeeShell:  “…….She said due to her ‘OCD’ she wanted us all to look exactly the same and  that she deserved her wedding to be perfect

She’s allowed to be OCD. But you shouldn’t pay for her OCD, she should.

Tell her that you’ve already gone beyond what’s normally expected (honestly I have never until today heard of BMs being epected to pay for their own eyelash extensions; and who looks at the bridesmaids’ nails?). Just firmly say if she wants hair extenstions for you, or if she “deserves” it, that you can’t afford it so she needs to pay.

@MeeShell:  what upsets me most – and your Bridesmaid or Best Man upsets me SO SO much!!! – is the fact that YOU’RE feeling bad about it. No no no! Do NOT feel any blame whatsoever. You’ve done everything right as is, offering to step down and even offering not to cut your hair for Christ’s sake. And THIS is the thanks you’re getting?

i’ll trust your word and assume that she’s not a complete bitch, which so far really each and every of her actions are indicating (and by that I mean screaming out loud!).

Just make sure you don’t stress yourself. Focus on what’s important. Hint: fake tans have nothing to do with that.

I just hope your friend will be able to see clearly again in a few weeks and will appreciate what a truly fantastic friend she has in you.
