Hey guys, ive been looking for the perfect wedding location for three months now. AND i think we found it!!! Its beautiful and everything we wanted. We would get to rent the WHOLE resort for our wedding weekend. The only speed bump? It’s in Jamaica and a couple people I’ve mentioned it to have said they thought it would be dangerous to travel there and it wasn’t on their top list of places they wanted to go.What do you guys think?? Is jamaica an ok place to ask 50 people to come join us at or would we be forcing them to go on vacation that no one really would go on normally..? Here are photos of the resort!

My FI’s sister is getting married in Jamaica. She’s been there multiple times. She lOVES it and doesn’t seem in the least bit concerned about traveling and having her wedding there.

My cousin lives in Jamaica. She loves it there. Of course there are always bad parts to anywhere you go in this world. Just be aware of your surroundings.

Purpleunicorn just went there for her honeymoon and it sounds AMAZING!

We’re going to Jamaica for our honeymoon in September. That resort looks AMAZING and I can’t imagine someone not wanting to go there. I think Jamaica had a bad reputation in the 90’s for being unsafe but you don’t really hear much about it anymore. Like a pp said, just be aware of your surroundings – don’t go into town, etc.

I went to a wedding in Jamaica. It was beautiful. I would not suggest leaving the resort though. But there is no need to.

I was in Jamaica April 9th-16th for our honeymoon. We were in Ocho Rios and I never once felt like I wasn’t safe. It is absolutely beautiful 🙂

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I mean yes, it is a third world country but so is every other country in the Caribbean. You just have to be smart when you travel. Don’t walk alone at night, don’t carry thousands of dollars on you, etc. If you are staying on the resort you will be perfectly safe. If you leave the resort, just be smart.

I am from Jamaica. As a bee said before anywhere you go will have areas that are not too safe. For Jamaica its mainly Kingston, Spanish Town and some parts in Montego Bay (our main towns).
The resort looks lovely and i believe that you and your guests will be safe there.
My country is very beautiful and a lot of tourists come here every year to get married. I have not seen or heard on the news of any been harmed.
Congrats on your upcoming wedding.

I’m Jamaican. Stick to the touristy places and you’ll be fine. It’s like if someone said, “Don’t go to America because there are places like Baltimore and Detroit just full of drugs and violence!” You’d laugh at them, wouldn’t you?

Been there twice, even went off the resorts both times. Had a great time. Love that country.

Can I just say that that last pic looks AMAZING! I went to Jamaica in August of this year and it was completely fine. I felt totally safe and left my resort multiple times. I wouldn’t have gone into Kingston at the time as it was deemed unsafe, but the tourist areas/resort areas rely on tourists and they really try to keep them safe.
