- Wedding: March 2014
Hey, fellow Bees. I have a conundrum. Mr. Musical and I live in Oklahoma City, but we are planning a wedding in Tulsa (well, STARTING to plan, since technically I’m still “waiting”– but the ring is being made as I write this). That’s much closer to where we are from, and our families all still live near-ish there.
For those not familiar with the area, OKC and TUL are about 2 hours apart (not counting construction *groan*), so it’s not like I can just pop down there after work to look for venues.
To be honest, it doesn’t seem like there are that many reasonably-priced venues. I know we live in the buckle of the Bible belt, and thus most people will choose to marry in their respective house of worship, but I have been continually amazed at the seeming lack of facilities in Tulsa that are both nice enough to host a wedding at, and big enough to hold 150 people.
We’re also pretty sure we want to hire our own caterers, both for financial and quality-control purposes, as well as bring in our own (licensed) bartender. And we’ll cut our own d*mn cake, thankyouverymuch.
Anyone have any ideas? I’d just throw it in OKC, as there seems to be no shortage of nice, laissez-faire venues there, but I have a number of older relatives who wouldn’t be able to make the trip.
If you got married (or are going to get married) in Tulsa, what was your venue? Did you like them? Have any of you had friends with good experiences marrying at a place other than a church in Tulsa? Any help would be much appreciated.
