Just leave it alone! By trying to pop it, you’re probably just irritating it more. You can try making an aspirin paste (I’ve heard it works, though it’s irritated my skin every time I’ve tried it). Otherwise, anti-inflammatory meds (think Aleve, etc.) and an ice cube to bring down the swellingn should help.

Hmm maybe put a hot washcloth on it if you want to bring it to the surface to pop it. Or a cold washcloth if you just want the swelling to go down.

My skin has calmed down quite a bit in the last few years, but I still get the occasional zit where it’s like, “Fuck me gently with a chainsaw, please.” FWIW, I had one on my wedding day, but it was fairly easy to cover and no one was any the wiser. Don’t stress! You’ll still look fabulous. 🙂

Sometimes if I get one that’s really swollen I put ice on it and it seems to help with the sweling. Wrap an icepack with a wash cloth and hold it on there for a few minutes. I also use benzoyl peroxide cream for spot treatments

Ice will help reduce the swelling. If you’d rather pop it, you can make a paste with yeast and tea tree oil, put it on the zit and cover with a bandaid it will really help bring it to a head.

@bells219:  One of my girlfriends has a HUGE red, painful zit right on the tip of her nose less than a week before her wedding! She made an appointment with a dermatologist and I don’t know exactly what the Dr did (it did involve a needle I remember), but I’ll be damned if that zit wasn’t gone by her wedding day.

Just a thought – you might want to see a professional. I’m sure they have some tricks up their sleeves.

@lunglover:  It was likely a cortisone shot. I have to get those on occassion for cysts I develop on my face… they make cystic acne go away within a day…

@google: yeah, that’s what came to mind: cortisone at the dermatologist. It’s your wedding; time to get some extra help.

I’d go to the dermatologist. They’ll take care of it within minutes.

Then, once there’s nothing left but just the redness and sore spot left over, cover it with a thick layer of neosporin and put a bandaid on it before you go to bed. When you wake up, take off the band aid and wash. I find that neosporin pretty much takes care of it within AT MOST 2 days. 🙂 I’ve used benzoyl peroxide cream but once it’s “popped” that will just irritate it more and it would take much longer than just going to the dermatologist.
