Hey there! I just saw your thread. I plan on going to Venice for my honeymoon, but I am sure you can get married there! It would be incredibly romatic. I am reading lots of travel information on Venice now – but nothing so far mentions about weddings. Just be rest assured though – Venice is a very expensive city, so make sure to factor that into your (and your guests) budget.

I would try and search for a wedding coordinator in the city – perhaps they could give you a hand? I’ll have a look and see what I can find out.

Don’t know of anyone who has done this, but I think it’s a wonderful idea.  I studied abroad in Italy during college and love Venice!

@ei laura – I never knew that about Italy (regarding needing a civil ceremony!). How interesting! I can’t wait to go to Venice – reading about it in the travel books has made me sign on more than one occasion! Glad you found the info you needed.

@ei: that’s what I was thinking, man the pictures would be amazing!!!!!  does spain have the same restrictions? i think you could get the same type of vibe, although there is no place like venice lol!! and i loved that dress!! thanks so much for the compliments.  my mom and i are going to dress shop at the end of the month so we’ll see when i purchase it. i am also in the process of losing weight so i’m not sure what size to order it in, with shoes, the dress is too short (read too tight to go down over my bum).  but with me losing weight i’m concerned about alterations etc, but do you buy a dress that is about an inch too small? sigh…

eta M was so cute he was like: baby if it’s a perfect fit plus or minus an inch and you are losing weight, then get the smaller size you’ll look perfect, after all it’s not like you’ll be sitting and eating, it’s just for a few hours… he’s soo cute sometimes.

@ei: omg i know, i’m afraid to death that the money i save on the dress i’ll double on the alterations, you know?

Also heres a helpful site – http://www.weddingsvenice.net/

From the hive, I guess these people have first-hand experience of what Venice is like as a city –
