I’m not sure if this is the right board to post this on. I am a bride on a budget, and so I will be diy’ing a lot of things for our wedding (with help from my family and friends of course!).
I am a very “type A” kind of girl who feels funny when everything is in a mess. I guess I would describe myself as “loosely organized”, if that makes any sense at all.
My problem is that I am already feeling inspiration overload. I have photos stored on my desktop, some links bookmarked on delicious, and some urls jotted hastily down in a notebook. Then there are those ideas and articles that I read and thought “I need to reread this later”. Later comes, and I realize I never saved them. I keep thinking “I need to sit down and get organized!”
How do you organize all your inspirations and ideas? Should I forgo my need to have a system in place and just let it be?
Thanks in advance – 🙂

I put together a binder… bought a bunch of page protectors and dividers.
I have a spot for websites – i copy and paste them and print them out.
I send all of my pics on the computer to one of those cheapy pic printing places and have actual photos made – for 10 to 20 cents each.
I force myself to keep clippings, random jotted notes and ideas in (sometimes just near, lol) that binder. It has seriously become my lifesaver.

I’m a “list person” so I have lists and pictures coming out the wazoo. Seriously.
Like Querida, I send any pictures I find about once a week (I find lots of pics!) to the Walgreens here and get them printed for about 10 cents. I keep my notes and these along with my budget in progress in a folder that my WC graciously gave me.

If you’re okay with keeping everything online, I’d recommend a tumblr account. (www.tumblr.com) You get a button that you put on the address bar, and then whenever you see something you like you click “add to tumblr.” You can put on tags and everything so that it’s easier to find. Mine is http://www.lauraemilie.tumblr.com if you want to look at how it works. You can save pictures/links/videos.. just about everything. It’s made it pretty easy for me to be able to go back and find things I need 🙂

That sound great! Thank for the tip, lemilie!

I am having the same problem and I have tried many systems and have yet to find one that works for me unfortunately. The only thing that is keeping me sane is actually my e-mail account. I send stuff to me and then I sort it there into files. Stuff that I need to order/do right away I keep in my inbox so it is right there to remind me. It has also been really easy to find stuff or forward ideas. It is not the best system and I know that I will have to find something better as it gets closer.

Ya’ll are geniuses! I have spent the past hour creating a tumblr site and saving a few things. I feel better already that everything wedding related is in one place instead of on delicious where it’s mixed in with paper research for school.
I also never thought of getting pictures I love printed out at somewhere like CVS or Walgreens. I think I may go this route for inspiration photos that I absolutely love to keep in my wedding planning binder. Sometimes I work best with paper and physical photos instead of all digital.
