We just did “Togeher with their families”, that way we didn’t have to worry about it.

My dad and stepmother are hosting the wedding but I wanted to add my non-remarried mom so people would know that she, and not my step mother, is my mother.  We used more traditional wording and omitted FI’s parents’ names. It was:

Mr. and Mrs. John Doe

Ms. Jane Smith

Request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their daughter

paintitblackcat9:  We left parent’s names off our invites. But in my situation we are paying for the wedding ourselves, and I am estranged from my parents anyways.

FI’s parents are divorced, not remarried (and apparently get along better now than they did when they were married), but we did “Together with their families”

Check out Bella Figura’s website- they have a bunch of tips about etiquette and provide a number of realistic examples. Here is one of the examples from that website:

BRIDE’S DIVORCED PARENTS ARE HOSTING // DIVORCED PARENTS ARE REMARRIED // FORMAL WORDING // RELIGIOUS LOCATION
Mr. and Mrs. Zachary Richard Bronson
Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Lewis Manning
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Amelia Rose Manning
to
Mr. Liam Quinlan Cullen
Saturday, the fifth of June
two thousand and fifteen
at half after ten in the morning
Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
Syracuse, New York
