- Wedding: June 2013
For refrence, I posted this last week:
My dress was purchased at a salon in early March this year. The alterations lady saw it that day , then again a week later for the first actual *fitting*.
The second actual fitting was mid/late April….the third fitting was supposed to be last Wednesday, May 22 for our June 8th wedding. She text me that morning and said she didn’t think she had enough done to warrant me making the almost hour drive. I told her I was concerned, but she reassured me it would be done by June 1…just one week shy of the big day. I did call the salon owner who said 1. I wasn’t the only bride she had rescheduled with, and 2. that she understood but knew that she would get it done in time.
I went in Saturday for my appointment, so there were three days she had to actually work on it…when I got there she was stitching something on the skirt so ten minutes later I get the dress on and I honestly couldn’t tell what she had done during the previous 4 weeks she had had it. The skirt was still pinned to the bodice all the way around (same as it was in april!) , plus the side seams have not been touched.
She fussed with the bustle for awhile, and instructed my friend who was with me how to do it (same as last appt) , and there were at least 2 points out of ten that were not done.
She asked me if I could come back two more times, this coming friday and another day, I asked if Saturday would work but she said no she can’t saturday because she has a wedding that day (what?!#&*@), so lets make it Sunday.
I later realized…how in the heck is she going to get anything done by sunday if she has a wedding saturday anyways? and why can’t it just be done by this friday?!
I am distraught to say the least…I dont know what to do because there is no way I’m waiting until the last minute, I work full time and I am a mama to a bunch of kids, I am overly busy, I cannot take off more time off work to keep going back there. I want my dress 🙁 I feel like this is cutting it way too close.
What would you do if you were in my shoes? And I wanted to add, I’ve considered taking it to someone else to finish the alterations, but most of the ones in my town are booked because of weddings (private ones) so I’m worried if I take the dress and no one can fix it due to time issues, I’ll be double screwed.
Advice? I got back friday at 10am…
