@Miss_Lily: We could be the exact same person. Seriously. Yes, we feel bad when we hear it from other people but deep down, I feel ick. I am bigger , 16 for sure. When I tried my dress on, my back fat made “boobs” on my back-cleavage and all. It’s depressing and it’s not kickstarting my inability to get focused on exercising. I’m scared of being in front of people. I’ve gone from size 10 in 2009 to 16+ now….and just really poor body image and self-conscious. I stress eat and give up, and eat like crap and it temporarily makes me feel better. Ugh, let’s be depressed together and take up some advice from the other nice bees. lol

I’m so sorry you’re having problems with the fit of your dress! I’ve been trying to lose some weight before my first fitting, and the Special K challenge has really worked for me! And it’s only been a week and a half. So I’d definitely ay you still have time if dropping a few pounds would make you feel better.

If you want to drop a few before the big day I just did the South Beach Diet Phase 1 and lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks with little exercise because of my internship. It’s worth a try!

@ Miss Lily,
Some of the posts here have been great and getting support through a website or Weight Watchers, etc is really a great idea, but what’s more important is to know how the human body works and work with it instead of against it! Did you know that your brain controls your weight, just like it controls your temperature and hormones? You have to eat the way your body wants to! It has a timer…once you take the first bite you’ve got 20 minutes until your brain will tell you that you’re full (well, really it takes about 30 minutes) so whatever you eat in that time period is what your brain will think of as “full” Keep an egg timer when you eat, set for 20 min, and portion out your food (you should only eat about 2 cups of food, roughly twice the size of your closed fist, because that’s how big your stomach should be) and eat the food slowly over the 20 minutes. Then STOP eating, wait 10 minutes, and I promise you’ll feel full! However, the body is also designed to be fed about every two hours. This takes planning, but the best thing to do is to plan to eat every 2 hours, something from a different food group for each “meal” (It should be small, no more than the 2 cups of whatever you’re eating, less if it’s protien) Start with whatever time you eat breakfast and then go in 2 hour intervals. (You should also take a woman’s multivitamin to make up for any nutrients you’re missing) This eating plan, combined with regular heartrate increasing workouts, and cutting out as much fast food and soda as you can stand, will really help you lose some weight! And if nothing else, remember that Marilyn Monroe wore a size 14 and she was considered the sexiest woman to ever live!!
P.S. I’m a 14/16 too!!

Oh sweetie – I really do understand how you feel. I am roughly the same size as you are and to add to that, I am 51.
There are many days when I look at my tummy, my back fat, my upper arms wiggles, my sagging boobs, my eye bags, my loose neck skin, my greying hair, and my bunion and I wonder what the heck am I doing even thinking I can be a beautiful bride.
Then I come to my senses.
We REALLY are our worst critics.
My brain (and yours and everyone else on this board) perceives things in the mirror that are simply not the truth.
My brain believes I am bigger, wigglier, older, etc. then I actually am. Sure, I could be thinner and younger. We all could. I am literally training my brain to ignore what the media and society have told me about what feminine beauty looks like and to recognize what it sees in the mirror as something wonderful.
I hope that makes some sense and that you can learn to do this too. Please don’t wait until you are 51 to start seeing yourself as beautiful.
