Hi all! So, our wedding is sort of a vintage – inspiration. So, for our Save-the-Dates, we mailed everyone a skeleton key with antiqued tag with our picture and info on it. I was having a hard time seeing all the keys leave (I just love them!!), so my fiance came up with the idea of adding another small tag that says “Bring this key!” (His way of getting the keys back for me) ….
SO, now that the wedding is in 20 days (OMG), we still haven’t figured out what we are going to do… :/
So far, we have a really cute large glass jar for them to go in at the wedding with a sign that says –
Keys! Keys! Keys!
1. Attach your name,
2. Drop in jar,
3. Wait and see!
We haven’t got much farther than that… We are thinking of doing a raffle – but we can’t figure out what would be a good idea!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help us by sharing your thoughts!! 🙂

A bottle of champagne-iced in a bucket.

I love your Fiance for coming up with the idea to get them all back for you….That is love. 🙂
Okay, this is WAY out there…. and the champagne iced in a bucket is the WAY better idea here, but I’ll throw out there something no one else will. Lol
What about this…You guys make a funny dance out of it?
Pick a funny or just slow song, and have your guests pick out of the jar to see who their dance partner will be…? I think it would be so funny to see people paired that….just shouldn’t be. 🙂
Or the drawing for a gift would be nice. lol

So cute that your fiance thought that up for you! What a nice guy
I like the raffle idea! Champagne is good, or a gift card for a restaurant around your town (if you don’t have tons of out of town guests). I think it can be something simple so don’t stress too much over it!

Ok, so we aren’t completely off base like I was feeling! 🙂 There is still one problem though… We have a wide range of guests – some older some under 21, some from here, some from out of town… So, thats sort of where we are stuck as far as the gift we give… ANy more suggestions?? 🙂
Thanks for the help and ideas!!

I have had a lot of luck with a website called “WineCountryGiftBaskets.com” They have a wide variety of gifts (not all wine) that are pretty affordable (I have used them for birthdays, sympathy, etc.). You still have time to order the gift basket and have it delivered to your house. You could give that. They have baskets that are free shipping, etc. I hope this helps 🙂

@ApplePie: Ilove the dance idea! itd be a way to get people out on the floor…
then maybe you could just give a gift card! Something coed like HomeDepot or Sears…People always need stuff for their house!

I was thinking of doing something similar, i will also have a diverse group of guests, but i thought of buying an iPOD Shuffle as a prize. I saw they went on sale at Walmart for $46, and since it is a destination wedding i didnt mind shelling out some extra cash to get a coveted prize 🙂

Personally, I like the restaurant gift card idea – everyone likes food. 🙂 I would just do it for a nice chain restaurant that people are likely to have near them, regardless of where they live.

you should do something like “keys to marriage bliss” have people fill out a card attach to key and drop into glass jar you were planning on using. it’s a little easier on the budget (no need to buy prize, gift) and personally i think doing a raffle at a wedding is kinda tacky/cheesy. a wedding is to celebrate your love together on this special day and for years to come. guests will be excited to give you marriage advice and even write you a special note.

I like starrbabe24’s idea. You could have then write their well wishes on the keys instead of a wishing tree, or you could use it as your guest book and have everyone write their names on a tag to attach to the key and then you can create something neat with them (like some wall art; you could frame them or hang them). You could have a cute sign about “Having you in our lives has been our “key” to happiness”

I’m late chiming in but I think the guest book is the best idea….You can write on one side of a tag “Key to A Happy Marriage”, “Key to a Happy Husband/Wife”, “Key to Never Going to Bed Angry”, you get the iea – personalize it, but guest can choose the tag the want – this way you start them off so they’re not stuck – you can even put “Draw the Key to a Happy ____” that should get some fun responses! Then you can put the cards in a scrapbook and have fun comming up with ways to use the keys. And he’s a keeper for getting the keys back for you (hopefully they don’t all forget)
Another Idea – put a mini lock on the program so it’s like the needed the key and then they’ll put it in the guest book
