futuremrs1617 : I had someone do my make-up on the day and she used; Estee Lauder and Benefit with a L’Oreal lipstick and lipgloss, which lasted me for ages afterwards. The Benefit product was a defining cream – I don’t know the technical term but she put it under my cheek bones to emphasise them. I’ve not been able to personally part with the money myself for it though – I find it hard to justify the money for it.

futuremrs1617 :  I’m having a makeup artist do airbrush makeup on me but I do have some recommendations from Sephora. Makeup Forever makes a great HD foundation and has a ton of colors so the match you find will probably be spot on. Smashbox primer is amazing, really smooths out the texture of your skin. Benefit they’re real mascara is my favorite.  I can’t think of everything but if you tell me something that you’re looking for I’d probably have a recommendation

I think my makeup artist is using makeup forevers stick foundation, which i bought after my trial and have been playing with – it’s a really great option. I’d find a good long wearing cream shadow, at least for the base, that you can put powders over (if you have hooded or oily lids like me you may need to double up on primer and cream shadow but if you sandwich that with powders and apply it right your eye makeup will not move). Waterproof mascara. Wear more blush than you think you need. Wedding makeup is all about finding the balance between what looks good on camera and what looks good in person. And individual lashes if you’re comfortable with them, or a strip if you want a more dramatic look. It makes a big difference. Good luck! I was so tempted to do my own.

My friend who did her own makeup went and had the MAC lady show her in the shop when she was buying her products – and give her tips. Good to have a pro’s advice 🙂 xx

Urban Decay makes some great eye shadows—that’s what my MAU artist uses.

Makeup Forever HD definitely for foundation, and I wear the Smashbox primer for going out and love how silky smooth it is.

I also second the They’re Real mascara. I’ve worn that and had multiple people ask me if I was wearing false lashes or if they were real. Of course, adding some false lashes day of will be great too. Just make sure you’re not allergic to the glue. My SIL got permanent ones a few days before her wedding and had terribly swollen/red eyes. Fortunately, all was resolved by the wedding and she was beautiful, but something to be aware of.

I got a lipstick I love from Urban Decay and I wear blush from NARS (which will also last you years).

Lastly if you get under-eye bags like me, look for getting a concealer for that specifically. I have a pinkish one from Lancome that I like. I also started moisturizing far more aggressively months before the wedding to help take care of dryness and have seen a huge difference that has made makeup application easier and look better.
