Our wedding is at a historic inn, so we get a free night at the inn for the wedding night.  But I like your idea, and I totally think it’s worth splurging even if it’s only for a short night.

Totally worth splurging! Once in a lifetime night. You can find great hotels with nice amenities on Hotels.com. Even the really fancy ones, (St. Regis, Four Season, Waldorf, etc) post reduced prices on their site.

I recommend checking out flash deal sites like Jetsetter and Sniqueaway.  They often have great, hip San Diego hotels for really good prices.  If ever there’s a time to splurge, I’d say this is it!  Plus you’ll be so close to the airport if you stay downtown!

I’m getting married in Manhattan, and my biggest wedding splurge is the hotel suite for 2 nights so that I can get ready in it with my bridesmaids and then stay there with my husband on our wedding night.  It will be about $750/night, though if I were just booking for the wedding night (and didn’t need the space for getting ready), I’d book something smaller (prob aim for $450-500/night).
