We came home because it was only 10 min from our venue. However we had the extra excitement of not having lived together prior to getting married, so that more than made up for it. Coming home to “our” house rather than “his” house was more special than a hotel. However even if we had lived together before, I probably still would opt to come home instead, especially if the honeymoon was soon to follow. I don’t sleep well in hotels, so getting a good night’s rest and waking up at home would be preferable than staying in a hotel just for the sake of staying in a hotel.

We are having our wedding at a country club near my home. It’s literally 15-20 mins, but we’re going to stay at the hotel everyone else is staying at. We’re having a big thank you lunch/brunch, and it would be a lot easier to say goodbye to people if we were all there together.

My parents are going to have a hotel room for 2-3 nights leading up to the wedding to help family and friends get settled in host the formal tea ceremony. I think convenience was the most important, and they also didn’t want too many people going in and out of their house. Both them and me+FI don’t want to clean up.

missviolet92 :  I can relate to this dilema. Our preference is to come home after reception because we fly out for our honeymoon the next day and our home is 5 mins away from hotel.  We are going to stay in hotel only because we will already have the rooms for getting ready for ceremony.  If it wasnt for this we wouldve came home because hotels in our area are expemsive. We wouldve applied that money to our honeymoon activities.  I think its nice for couples not going on a honeymoon but since you are its fine to go home.

missviolet92 :  We stayed in a hotel the night of the wedding because we knew it would be a late night and it was convenient (just around the corner from our venue).  The only tough part was coordination… it was hard to get my overnight bag and check in when we had to be at the ceremony venue, then photos at the park, etc.
