@KLP2010-

We practice NFP. There’s no doctors visits, you don’t have to rely on a pill, you don’t have to buy pills or condoms. It’s better for your health and it’s better for the environment… there is also no side effects such as weight gain, depression, or loss of sex drive.*

The total cost for us to do it was a book used off amazon (Taking charge of your fertility) and a $14 BBT thermometer. I have no “up-keep” costs and we have successfully used it to prevent conception thus far.

I honestly can’t advise you enough to read the book Taking Charge of your Fertility  and learn the sympto-thermal method. the STM method of NFP (no condoms, just abstinence for the one week your fertile) is proven just as or MORE reliable than BC. Obviously, if you’re not having sex when you are fertile you won’t have a baby. The sperm can only live for a MAX of 5 days in an optimum environment. Your egg can only last about 24 hrs. With some safety padding this means you only don’t have sex about 7 days of the month. There is no need to not have sex ever just because you aren’t ready for kids and there is no need to pump yourself full of hormones non-stop for those 5-6 days of fertility…

There are a lot of great threads and many people on here who have been using these methods PERFECTLY with no “oopsies” for years. All methods of BC fail… the safest way to avoid is to not have sex WHEN FERTILE. Which again… is only about a week.

*These are the most commonly complained yet minor side effects of BC. There are a lot more that can happen and some are very serious.

If I ever need to, I’ll be using this method. It’s great! More women just need to hear about it.
