My officiant was there! I’m sure you could just ask and they will attend. You need someone to help you figure out what is done!

That seems a little odd to me. Our officiant will be at our rehearsal. There really is no point to have a rehearsal without them, how would you go through the ceremony without them there. I would ask if they can be there or keep looking for someone who will. I have never heard of an officiant not being there.

I would just ask them if they could attend the rehearsal. If for some reason that doesn’t work out is there anyone at the church that could help with the rehearsal? A lot of places have people that work specifically with weddings. Our officiant will be present at the rehearsal and even offered to do an additional walk through with just me and Fiance which I thought was so sweet.

WE’re not doing a full rehearsal but our officiant had us to his house to go over exactly what he’ll say and when and whose expected for what so we know what’s happening.

We haven’t picked our officiant, but I would want him/her there for the rehearsal.  This is the person that’s going to be leading the ceremony, I’d want to make sure we’re all on the same page.  I’d be willing to pay for the additional time, I think that’s fair.

I think most officiants will attend a rehearsal (even if their website says they don’t) – for an extra fee. Our officiant is the same – for a fee he would attend a rehearsal. However, in order to circumvent the need for him to be present at the rehearsal, he e-mailed me a highly detailed order of ceremony. It literally has a point by point description of who does what, stands where, when, why, etc.

When I say detailed – we’re talking he has instructions like “best man takes one step closer to officiant after officiant says blah blah. this means best man is in position to place rings on book when I ask for them”

This means, we can run our own rehearsal, without him, and everyone will know what they are doing 🙂

Our pastor was at ours. I don’t know how we would’ve had a rehearsal without him. He did a run through of the ceremony, unity candle, etc. I see you don’t have a planner, but does your ceremony space offer a “day of coordinator”? They should be very helpful too, as they know ceremonies like the back of their hand 🙂

The pasTor of our church is marrying us and he does a HIGHLY recommended pre-marital counseling for any wedding he efficiates.  He explained it’s 4 sessions with the last one the night of the rehearsal and includes our wedding party and close family.  So he obviously plans to not onlyattend, but “officiate” the rehearsal too.

I couldn’t imagine the point of a rehearsal without the person hired to officiate….. Doesn’t even make sense…  I’d say keep looking till you find someone willing to invest their time in you and your day.

Our officiant actually did a “pre-rehearsal” with just me, my then Fiance and him. It was great. We got to go over the details without the bridal party or our parents chiming in and distracting us by putting their 2 cents in. We did that about a month before the ceremony, then the Thursday before our wedding we did the actual rehearsal with wedding. It was nice knowing the general idea of how it was going to go before we had the rehearsal with all those other people there. He did both these rehearsals as part of his $200 fee. He was awesome! Any NE Ohio brides looking for an officiant I’ve got your guy!
