I’m not getting married until 2010 but I’m really excited :). I was doing some research on wedding officiants in the Minneapolis area and I am having trouble finding one I like.
Has anyone ever heard of http://www.budgetweddings.info/? They are really cheap, the only downside is you don’t get to meet the officiant before you book. I was at a wedding recently where the officiant was very disrespectful. The couple was non-religious and she kept slipping up and using religious lines, and made snarky comments about "normally i would say in front of God here…". I don’t want to end up with something like that!!!

I choose not to go that route… I like to build a relationship with someone before the actual wedding, it makes it feel more comfortable and sweet!
We’re using Ben Lower for ours. $250, he’s GREAT — we can personalize as much or as little as we want. He’s very affable and put us at ease immediately!

We used Affordable I Do’s for our ceremony and our officiant was amazing! We had Kate do our ceremony and we loved her. We had talked with her once on the phone before the ceremony about our ceremony wording and such and then we met her in person for the first time right before our ceremony. I was a bit nervous about going that route, but I highly recommend her.
With their services they send you two pdf’s – one with full ceremony examples and another with many options that you can put together to mix and match them and that’s what we did. It really reflected us and we loved it. Once you have your choices set, you send it back to Susan (the owner) and she will match you with an officiant (if you haven’t requested one) who fits the type of ceremony you have. So you won’t get the problem in your post about someone who doesn’t agree with the type of ceremony you have.
PM me if you would like more info or I could possibly send you what our ceremony ended up like. I’m more than happy to share!
