We’re having ours on a Monday (in 4 more weeks!)  It’s working out perfectly for us… we secured all of the vendors and venues we wanted without having to compete with other brides, prices are much lower, and it helped cut down on the guest list  =o)  We were able to invite everyone we wanted to and it looks like our guest list will be about the perfect size (just waiting on a few more RSVPs now).  Plus it gives us the weekend before to prepare, so we’re not taking as much time off from work.

I would feel inconvenienced as a guest, I hated my BFF’s Friday night wedding so Monday would be a no go for me, especially if I had to travel for it.  What if people leave your wedding early because they want to get home for work on Tuesday?

Also, your husband to be getting married the day after his declared “hangover day” makes me giggle.

With everything you’ve told us…it sounds like this option will work great for you! No day of the week is perfect, so if you think this works for you, your Fiance, and your guest list, I don’t see why you shouldn’t have it on a Monday!

I agree – I think it should work out just fine.  If you’re really concerned, how about getting save the dates out early?

It sounds like it would work really well for you. We had a Friday wedding- Out of Town guests had to take 2 days off work, and locals either a full or half day. It sounds like your location would be a mini-vacation for guests- I say go for it!

I’d advise sending out save the dates, so they have enough notice. Just be prepared that because it is a weekday, that may prevent some guests from attending- but you’d have regrets for a weekend wedding, anyway.

You’ll definitely save money having it on a Monday- you’ll have a lot more negotiation room with DJs, photographers, etc. Have fun planning!

In general, I don’t think it is a good idea, but in your case, it seems like it would be a good option.  The only thing I would caution is be prepared that some people just won’t be able to make it – time off of work is not an option for everyone.  If you can handle that without any resentment towards those that can’t come, go for it!

It sounds like you’ve weighed the pros and cons of having it on the Monday, so I say go for it, but be prepared that not everyone is going to be able to make it/might have to leave early.

@PumpkinCheesecake:  Haha, yay! It’s true though. Even Saturday, the “norm,” isn’t perfect because it costs SO much to get married on a Saturday! So do what works for you and your guests and try not to worry yourself too much! πŸ™‚

+1

Except for the few guests who might have to take 2 days off from work (Mon and Tues) that they wouldn’t normally take if they were just coming in for the weekend, I can’t see a problem with it from what you’ve mentioned!

Go for it!  I’m just imagining all the money you’ll save and all the vendors you’ll get to have your pick of since no one else is probably getting married that Monday! πŸ™‚

From all the details you’ve given, I think a Monday wedding would definitely work for you!  I would be prepared for that small amount of your guests who actually would have to take off of work to either complain or not come, though.

No problem!  =o)  I did send out save the dates very early to a handful of people that I absolutely wanted there and then sent out our invitations fairly early as well.  Since it’s a Destination Wedding, most people were either able to attend or not for the whole weekend, regardless of whether it was a weekend day or a weekday.  We’re also doing our bachelor/bachelorette parties on that Saturday beforehand so we won’t be entirely hungover the day of the wedding, lol.

We’ve had just a couple of people who said they’ll be there to party during the weekend but can’t make it to the wedding itself (which is fine with us), but all of our yes RSVPs have said their flights are booked to fly home the day after the wedding, so I don’t think many will have the option to leave the reception too early  ;o)  It’s actually worked out far better than I would have thought!
