I started buying wedding party gifts this past November and our wedding isn’t until March 2011. I think if you see something you know they will like, you should get it, especially if it is on sale. I am done with the girls gifts, except for making their outfits, so all we have to do now is get for the guys.

I’ve already started looking too, so I say not too soon. Smile I haven’t bought anything yet, but I’m keeping my eyes peeled!

I would wait till it gets closer to the date.  If you buy your gifts too early you’ll be sure to find something cuter and wish you had not been so hasty. But looking never hurt and it’s fun!Cool

just make sure you really want them and stick within your budget if there is one. I started buying things 8 months before my wedding and kept taking them back when i’d find something else. i didnt want to end up with wayyy too much stuff. but i think i am. I’ve already spent more on our bridal party gifts than on my dress! (given it was a 250 dress lol) but yeah! just know its something you HAVE to have 🙂

I think I would wait.  There are a lot of people who chose BMs this early and end up wanting to change who they chose because they aren’t as close anymore.

I’d try to wait it out if you can.  The only reason I say that its because I started buying some things early on… then as time passed I’d see cuter things and wish I hadn’t jumped the gun.  A lot of times I’d see them on sale and just get it, only to realize those items were often on sale, oops!

I bought my first bridesmaids gifts about 10 months before the wedding!  My mom and I were out shopping and I found the cutest clutch bags in my wedding colors for ten dollars each so I bought them right away!  I got their necklaces and compacts later!

I have already bought mine. I think its smart to space things out bc its easier financially to do that rather than one big chunk at a time.

Yeah I’m thinking I’ll pick up bits and pieces as I go – I got their flip flops today, ‘cos there prob won’t be much of a selection of those in the shops here in April.

I’ll pick up pashminas and clutches, hopefully, in the January sales. I’ll prob get necklaces /bracelets on Etsy over the autumn, depending on the finances.

And that’ll do them! Actually, would I be spending enough at about 100 euro each? Roughly $120, I’d say. I am paying for their dresses, too. Done thing here Money mouth

I think it would be foolish to purchase something this early that they may end up buying for themselves in the meantime.  If you are thinking of a specific bridesmaid gift of a purse that matches the dress or a very personalized specifically bridesmaidy gift that they wouldn’t buy for themselves then ok… but be aware that some of those bridesmaid/friendship gifts that are found online may be discovered later at a significantly lower price!  A dear friend of mine gave me a charm bracelet that I know that she ordered online… at a costly price significantly in advance.  I discovered the same exact bracelet at a beach shop for under 10 dollars.  The only difference was a mini silver disc engraved with my first initial… which was so tiny it would have been under a twenty-five cents in value… My friend isn’t very knowledgable about jewelry, so she didn’t realize the quality issue didn’t match the cost.  I knew  that she had over spent on the bracelet because of  the manner that it was given to me.  I was able to look at the online cost… because the online company labeled their box with a .com label.  (I looked it up after seeing it in the shop, and realizing that she had spent significantly more than she should have…)  It was the sentiment that counted, but it did make me sad to think that they had so seriously overcharged her!)
