Getting married with a JOP in cali provides you a lot of opportunities for family and friends to be there, and if he’s already going to be in town you won’t have to pay extra for you to fly to Florida. Make sure he tells his chain of command that he’s going to get married and don’t wait til after. They tend to get angry about that especially if he has a security clearance

I think if your main concern is making sure you are on his Page 2 and are his dependent, you two should do the JOP and then have the wedding you want at a later date.  You are so right the Disney weddings are pricey (I’m having one next May, but most of my family is in FL, so it’s a better option for us).  I can’t really say anything about chain of command, but I have never heard about getting married messing with your security clearance (I’ve been in the military for 10 years and FI’s been in for 14 years).  Of course, he would have to let his CoC know where he is going for leave and recall purposes. As a matter of course, I was pretty well clued-in to the personal lives of the people that worked for me.  Either way, it sounds like you guys are trying to map things out logically and want to make sure you two are set up for when he gets orders to his next duty station.  Congrats!

It’s only a problem if they feel like it wasn’t disclosed properly, but since their priority is getting the Page 2 and DEERS correct it’s unlikely it would be an issue

@dancingriss:  Hmm, that’s true, you’re right, if he was trying to keep it a secret for whatever reason, his clearance would be compromised.  I didn’t think of it that way.  Thanks!

@tehlilone:  We are doing the Wishes wedding.  Our ceremony will be at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion and the reception at the Grand Floridian.  We are excited!  I would have gone with the Escape one but we have too many people we wanted to invite.
